Akron Marathon to Honor Creigh Kelley Thursday, September 26
September 25, 2013 (Akron, OH) – The Akron Marathon, presented by Time
Warner Cable, will honor famed competitive runner Creigh Kelley with its
Ambassador Award on Thursday, September 26, at Infocision Stadium during an
invite-only event.
Kelley is well known in the running community as a competitor, agent, race
director, national consultant and elected national and international
leader.
"Creigh has been a valued consultant for and friend of the Akron Marathon
over the years," said Dave Hunter, Akron Marathon board member. "His
exceptional knowledge and expertise about the sport of running have served
us well and it is with exuberance that we welcome him as our 2013
Ambassador."
The Ambassador Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated superior
service and dedication to the running industry or who have earned respect
within the running community for their exceptional accomplishments.
Ambassadors are chosen based on their sustained contributions toward
advancing the sport of running and its positive impact on society,
extraordinary efforts at the local, national and / or international level
and contributions to sporting endeavors, community leadership, health and
fitness and service.
Past Ambassadors include Kathrine Switzer, Bill Rodgers, Amby Burfoot, Hal
Higdon and Craig Masback.
The Akron Marathon will take place Saturday, September 28, 2013, beginning
