FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Is Your School Receiving Top Marks for
Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2014?
Following the success of the 2013 event, the organisers are once again
allocating a prize EXCLUSIVELY to post primary schools across Northern
Ireland and ambassador for the official charity, CLIC Sargent NI, four time
Paralympics gold medallist Jason Smyth is encouraging everyone to enter and
raise money for this worthwhile charity.
If a school enters 10 people or more into the team relay, 8 mile walk or
fun run events, they will automatically qualify to win one of the following
cash prizes. The prizes will be allocated dependent on total number of
participants and the money can be spent at the discretion of the PE
Department or School:
1st £1000 cash, 2nd £500 cash, 3rd £300 cash, 4th £200 cash
*Parents, family members or friends can also be included providing they
highlight the name of the school at the top of their entry forms.
But wait there is more….
Not only that, but our Retail partner, Podium 4 Sport have also agreed to
provide one £500 gift voucher at random to one of the four winning schools.
All monies raised by Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon participants
supporting CLIC Sargent NI will go directly to their Homes from Home Appeal
and will stay in Northern Ireland. JJ Fisher from Newcastle, Co. Down, was
diagnosed with Leukaemia in November 2011 whilst he was preparing for his
GCSE's. JJ was supported by CLIC Sargent social worker, Laurena, during
his two year treatment programme and is now in full remission.
JJ's mum, Brenda said: "A Home from Home would have been brilliant for me.
It would have meant that I could have kept my family together. My focus
was on JJ and the other children missed out. Even on the days when JJ was
discharged for a few hours the home would have been a great place to go.
The sooner the home is up and running the better. I'd encourage all
students to sign up and help other young people going through cancer
treatment"
So come on, feel healthy and get fit by signing up for the 2014 Deep
RiverRock Belfast City Marathon today and help your school come top on Race
