               Final Countdown for The 17th Cyprus Marathon
			   
       100 Days Left for The Most Historic Running Event in Cyprus!

Preparations are already underway for the most historic Marathon in Cyprus. 
Since 1999, the Cyprus Marathon has hosted more than 30,000 runners and 
spectators from Cyprus and overseas. The magnificent scenery of the 
Marathon which starts at Petra tou Romiou (Birthplace of Aphrodite goddess 
of love and beauty) and the scenic route along the seafront excites all 
participants. The Marathon finishes at the historic Pafos Medieval Fort 
Square. The history and the picturesque landscape of this sporting event 
attracts many runners and spectators every year. 

The President of the "Youth and Sport" Committee of Pafos Municipality, Mr. 
Chrysanthos Savvides, said that "The Cyprus Marathon in Pafos is an event 
which contributes to a huge boost for the winter tourism in Pafos and 
Cyprus in general. It also enriches the social and athletic involvement of 
Pafos and is also under the umbrella of activities for the Pafos - European 
Capital of Culture 2017". Additionally, the event is under the auspices of 
the Cyprus Tourism Organization due to its touristic and cosmopolitan 
flavour.

Registrations for the 2015 event are now open and runners can choose 
between three different distances. Besides the Marathon (42,195 meters), 
there is a Half-Marathon (21,098 meters) and a 10 km road race. All 
participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt and a finisher's medal. 
Trophies will be awarded in 50 different age group categories for all three 
distances. Moreover, at the finish line you will find ample quantities of 
mineral water, juice, HIGH5 energy drinks, seasonal fruit and beer!

The event is dedicated to the Marathon legend of the Greek and Cypriot 
sport, Stelios Kyriakides, winner of the Boston Marathon in 1946. The 2015 
Cyprus Marathon is sponsored by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, Castrol 
Lubricants, HIGH5 Sports Nutrition, Micromania, Aloe Hotel, FOTOKINISI and 
the Municipality of Pafos.
