MDA Team Momentum To Partner With MetroPCS Dallas Marathon
As Official Charity Group in 2014
DALLAS, May 29, 2014 - The Muscular Dystrophy Association earlier this year
announced the launch of MDA Team Momentum, a nationwide endurance program
designed to help support MDA's mission to find treatments and cures for
muscle disease. Today, the Dallas Marathon organization and MDA Team
Momentum announced that MDA Team Momentum will participate as an official
charity group in the 2014 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-Person
Relay and SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer held on
December 14, 2014.
The MDA Team Momentum program gives beginners and endurance pros the
opportunity to participate in an endurance race - a marathon or
half-marathon - and dedicate their efforts to the fight for muscle health.
Offering world-class training, mentors, a solid community of support and
inspiration every step of the way, MDA Team Momentum aims to change the
lives of millions of Americans affected by muscle disease and impact those
walkers and runners who make every mile count for good.

stories of those who have already joined the program.
"We're thrilled to announce and officially open registration for MDA Team
Momentum participation in the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon," said MDA Executive
Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Income Development Ann
McNamara. "Every step participants take, every mile logged during training
and events, and every dollar raised will advance MDA's mission to assist
families with health care services and day-to-day support, to fund
life-changing research worldwide, and to fight back against dozens of
life-threatening muscle diseases."
The program provides in-person, group and online training and support
tailored for half-marathon or full marathon races. Participants set
fundraising goals for each race and MDA offers online resources, trips and
suggestions to make reaching those fundraising goals easy, fun and
successful. Recruitment and training for participants is currently underway
in Dallas.
"We're excited to have the Muscular Dystrophy Association and MDA Team
Momentum as an official charity partner for the 2014 MetroPCS Dallas
Marathon," said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon.
"Partnering with Team Momentum gives us another opportunity to continue to
support our organization's objectives of transforming lives through running
and creating incredible experiences that will last a lifetime."
Alison Tibbits, MDA Nationwide Director, Endurance said, "Team Momentum is
a natural and contemporary extension of our brand enabling walkers, runners
and athletes of all skill levels to join forces with MDA and move their
muscles to help those individuals and families living with muscle disease.
There has never been a more hopeful time to find new treatments, and we
believe Team Momentum can help us dramatically accelerate our programs of
discovery and support."
