National Black Marathoners Association Selects the
MetroPCS Dallas Marathon to Host 10th Annual Summit in 2015
May 31, 2014 (Dallas) - The National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA)
will host its 10th annual summit during 2015 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon race
weekend, organizers announced today. Hundreds of NBMA members from across
the United States will travel to Dallas to participate in the 45th running
of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-Person Relay and SMU Cox
Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer held on December 13, 2015.
"We're honored to be selected by NBMA as their destination marathon of
choice for the 10th annual summit in 2015 and look forward to creating a
memorable celebration during MetroPCS Dallas Marathon race weekend," said
Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon.
The 10th annual NBMA summit will feature the National Black Distance
Runners Hall of Fame Banquet, which honors lifetime runners, community
service volunteers and prominent running clubs. Previous inductees include
Ted Corbitt, Marilyn Bevans, Frederick Davis III, Angela Ivory, Francis
Gilbert and Elzy Warren.
NBMA members, recognizable by their red and lime green jerseys and black
shorts, will be visible throughout race weekend and on the MetroPCS Dallas
Marathon course during race day, offering encouragement and support to all
participants in the event.
"We selected the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon for our 10th annual summit
because of the race's significance to our members: not only will the
MetroPCS Dallas Marathon be a fun and entertaining race experience in a
great host city, but the NBMA shares a common mission with the MetroPCS
Dallas Marathon to promote healthy lifestyles and give back to the
community," said Tony Reed, executive director of the NBMA.
More information about the 2015 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon will be made
available in the coming months.
Registration for the 2014 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-Person
Relay and SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer will
