The Dallas Marathon and Behringer Declare
Wednesday, October 14, Suits and Sneakers Day
DALLAS (October 8, 2014) – The Dallas Marathon, in partnership with title
relay sponsor Behringer, today announced a prerace fitness awareness
initiative for professionals in North Texas. The first Suits and Sneakers
Day will be Wednesday, October 14, when Behringer and the Marathon
encourage professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to substitute running
shoes for work shoes.
On that day, participants can share images of their "business active"
attire on social media using #suitsandsneakers to be entered to win a free
spot in this year’s Corporate Relay Challenge and invitations to the
prerace VIP breakfast on Sunday, December 13.
As an added incentive, Luke’s Locker will be offering a 10% discount on all
items that day.
"Dallas has one of the strongest business communities in the country," said
Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. "Suits and Sneakers Day
is a fun way for runners to share their passion with their coworkers and
encourage preparation for, and participation in, race weekend."
"Dozens of studies have shown that physical fitness is good for a company’s
bottom line," said Jason Mattox, chief operating officer at Behringer. "The
Corporate Relay Challenge is a great way to encourage fitness in the
workplace and build unity among team members, while also giving back to a
great cause."
Behringer Relay – Participants in both the five-person and corporate relay
will follow the same 26.2-mile course as Dallas Marathon participants.
Members of the five-person relay teams complete 4.4 to 6.5 miles each,
depending on their assigned leg of the relay.
As a result of its 10-year partnership with the Dallas Marathon, the
Addison-based firm has helped contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars
to directly benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC), the
Dallas Marathon’s primary beneficiary. As a leading pediatric orthopedic
center, TSRHC has treated more than 210,000 children since its inception,
with more than 40,000 clinic visits each year.
