Katy & Tyler Jermann Sign Agency Contracts with Elite Runner Management
Katy and Tyler Jermann, husband and wife athletes with Team USA Minnesota
in Minneapolis, have signed agency contracts with Elite Runner Management,
the Michigan based sports agency headed by Chris Mengel.
"Through hard work, disciplined training and perseverance, Katy and Tyler
are quickly rising to the top of the American running scene. Under the
guidance of their outstanding coach, Chris Lundstrom, they have helped make
Team USA Minnesota one of the premier training programs in the United
States once again. I am privileged to be their manager as their pro careers
continue toward the Olympic Trials in 2020 and beyond," said Mengel.
A three-time All-American and Midwest Regional Track Athlete of the Year
out of Iowa State University, Katy (Moen) Jermann's professional
progression in 2018 and 2019 has been stunning. In 2018 alone she achieved
top-10 finishes over several distances including the USA 10 Mile
Championship (8th), USA 25K Championship (6th), the USA Club XC
Championship (10th), and at the Garry Bjorkland (Grandma's) Half Marathon
where she finished 6th. In January of this year, Katy ran negative splits
in her marathon debut at the Chevron Houston Marathon, finishing in
2:33:41. She then placed 8th at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville
in March. In April, she ran 54:03 to finish 12th at the Credit Union Cherry
Blossom 10 Miler in Washington, DC, then finished second at the Road
Runners Club of America National 10K Championships in Minneapolis in a
personal best time of 32:44. Earlier this month Katy set yet another
personal best when she finished 5th at the USA Half Marathon Championships
in Pittsburgh in a time of 1:12:11.
Tyler Jermann, also a 2015 graduate of Iowa State, is a true long distance
specialist. Only 26, he already has raced in 12 marathons. He has finishes
of 10th at Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota twice (2016, 2017) and
finishes of 3rd and 4th at the Pittsburgh Marathon (2016, 2017). In 2017,
he won the USA 50K Championship on Long Island, NY, setting a course record
in his first ultra race. He has also finished 7th and 9th in the Houston
Marathon (2018, 2019). Tyler's breakthrough race in the marathon was at
this year's Houston where he ran 2:13:29, a personal best by over 3
minutes.
Both Jermanns believe that Mengel and ERM is the perfect fit as their
careers progress. "Chris is an agent who not only has the ability to help
bring our careers to the next level but he's also a person we trust. We
know that he will always be looking out for our best interests. It can be
hard to know your own value in the running scene and it certainly helps to
have somebody like Chris in your corner who knows the landscape and who
will make sure you are getting the most out of your opportunities," said
Katy and Tyler. "We are honored Chris chose to represent us!"
Lundstrom, the Jermanns' coach, has high praise for both athletes. "Tyler
has incredible passion for the sport. His enthusiasm and work ethic are
huge assets to our team. His effort has translated into some great results,
such as his 2:13 in Houston in January," said Lundstrom. "Although Katy had
a difficult transition to pro running due to injuries and obstacles, she
has persevered and is now beginning to reap the rewards of her consistent,
high level training. Both Tyler and Katy are highly motivated, driven
athletes who have a great deal of potential. It will be fun to see what
they can do in the years to come."
Both athletes have interests beyond running. In addition to racing for Team
USA Minnesota, Katy is a part-time reading teacher, part-time sales
associate at a local running store, and an assistant high school coach.
Tyler is a graduate student and full-time data scientist for a Montreal
firm.
Next up for Katy is the NYRR New York Mini 10K in Central Park on June 8th
which will serve as this year's USATF 10K Championships for women. Both
Katy and Tyler will then race the Garry Bjorkland Half Marathon as part of
Grandma's Marathon weekend on June 22nd.
