Distance runner Kevin Salvano signs agency contract
with Elite Runner Management
Notre Dame alum recently finished 9th in Houston Marathon
GROSSE POINTE (MI) - Kevin Salvano, a Notre Dame graduate and Olympic
Trials qualifier in the marathon, has signed an agency contract with Elite
Runner Management (ERM), the Michigan based sports agency headed by Chris
Mengel.
"Kevin Salvano had a fabulous start to his pro career when he ran 2:16:39
to place ninth in last month's highly competitive Chevron Houston Marathon.
To run perfectly even splits [1:08:29 and 1:08:10] as a non-elite entry in
a World Athletics' gold label race is pretty impressive," Mengel said. "It
was both his marathon and road racing debut. I am very pleased that Kevin
has chosen my agency to be a part of his professional journey. Houston is
only the beginning."
When asked about his new partnership with Elite Runner Management, Salvano
said that "[i]n any relationship, trust is front and center and I feel that
trust with Chris. I'm confident that Chris and ERM will give me the chance
to compete in major races, to drop my marathon time, and to beat guys that
are within my wheelhouse."
After suffering an injury his freshman year and almost giving up the sport,
Salvano recovered to have an outstanding collegiate career at Notre Dame.
Among his college accomplishments, Salvano was a Great Lakes All-Region
cross country selectee and captained the 2019 Fighting Irish team to a 2nd
place finish at the ACC Championships and to 8th place at the NCAA D1
National Cross Country Championships. He has a personal best of 28:54 for
10,000 meters and earned All-ACC honors by finishing 4th at that distance
at the ACC outdoor championships.
A 2016 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, a northwest suburb of
Chicago, Salvano was All-State for three years in cross country and the
Illinois 3A individual state champion his senior year. He has a master's
degree in accounting from Notre Dame and is a licensed CPA working in
finance for a firm in Chicago.
Salvano's immediate plans include running Grandma's Marathon in Duluth in
June and then a Fall marathon, perhaps in his hometown of Chicago.
