4TH ANNUAL FLORIDA GULF BEACHES MARATHON
February 16, 2003
Clearwater, florida
Summer Update
This e-mail update is being sent to:
• Runners who registered to receive it at our website
• Ran in one of our first three marathons
• Expressed an interest in our race in sparkling Clearwater, Florida.
Please feel free to forward it to other people who you think would be
interested. If you have received this by mistake or if you would like to
be removed from our e-mail list, please reply with the word "REMOVE" in
the subject line.
NEXT YEAR'S DATE has been finalized for February 16. Consolidation of the
Hops Marathon (in Tampa) with the Gasparilla Distance Classic into one
weekend and a change of date to January 4 - 5, allows us to move our race
into February. By the way, it is scheduled for President’s Day Weekend,
so you may be able to escape for a long weekend without using any
vacation days. Our website has been completely updated to reflect the
change of date.
EVENTS OFFERED: Once again, we are happy to offer three events - the full
marathon, the two-person relay (with each runner completing 13.1 miles),
and the 10K Race, which starts at mile 20 of the marathon course in
Taylor Park, Largo and proceeds to the finish line in downtown
Clearwater.
PENCIL IN DECEMBER 15 for the inaugural Florida Gulf Beaches Half
Marathon! Though not fully permitted at this time, we hope to formally
announce this new event in late July. If permitted, start line will be
along the Gulf Beaches and will be run primarily along the marathon
course, finishing in Taylor Park. This will be a great race for runners
seeking a shorter distance than the full marathon, or those preparing for
our marathon, Hops or Disney. Please check our website at
www.FloridaMarathon.com for future announcements.
REGISTER EARLY, SAVE MONEY! Early entry fees are $40 for the full
marathon, $60 for two-person relay teams, and $20 for the 10K Race until
August 31. Entry fees will increase on September 1 to $50 in the
marathon, and to $70 for the relay teams. After January 1, entry fees
increase again to $60 for the marathon, $80 for the relay, and $25 for
the 10K Race. After February 10, entry fees will increase to $75 for the
marathon, $95 for the relay, and $30 for the 10K.
PICK A NUMBER, ANY NUMBER . . . Everyone has a favorite or lucky number.
As a further incentive to register early, we offer you the option to
select your bib number on a first come basis for the full marathon only.
Pick your favorite number between 25-1,000 and if it is available when we
receive your entry, it will be yours.
REGISTER ON-LINE through Active.com, accessible from our website’s
registration page at www.FloridaMarathon.com or you can download
an entry form from the same registration page.

Of all the marathons you can choose from, there is only one that combines
a fast, flat, scenic course showcasing Florida beaches and the waterfront
lifestyle with perfect weather for running and a winter vacation. No
wonder "Florida’s only beach marathon" more than doubled in participation
in the last two years.
Hope to see YOU at our finish line celebration . . .
