           Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon hosts 
                 its largest ever Australian marathon field

The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon can add the ‘largest 
ever Australian field of marathon runners on the Gold Coast' to the history 
books this year with almost 5000 runners registered for the 42.195km event. 

Events Management Queensland CEO, Cameron Hart said hosting the most ever 
Australian marathon runners at the Gold Coast event was a great salute to 
the return of mass participation events with an almost totally domestic 
field making it a true celebration of Australian running. 

"This will be the largest mass participation event in the country since 
COVID-19 halted events nationwide. 

"We are delighted that people from every state and territory will be 
putting all their training to the test with us and delivering a COVID-safe 
event will pave the way for more participation events to make a return to 
the sporting stage," Mr Hart said.  

Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon local entrant and genuine 
top ten prospect, Riine Ringi will line up on race day with a recent PB 
(2:42.29) and a win in the Canberra Marathon under her belt.  

"This will be my fifth marathon on the Gold Coast – it's a fast and flat 
course and hopefully it will be a nice cool day for the run. 

"I hope I might have a home soil advantage and I'm looking forward to the 
support of friends and the Gold Coast community on the sidelines," she 
said.  

Riine won the 2019 GC50 and placed third in 2020 where the top three 
finishers all broke the course record. She has been selected for the 
Queensland team to contest the Australian Marathon Championships at the 
Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon this year.  

To accommodate the mailing of all participant race kits and cater for 
changes in supply chains entries for the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold 
Coast Marathon and associated races will close at 11:59pm on Friday 4 June 
2021. 

The 42nd Village Road Show Gold Coast Marathon will be held on 3 - 4 July 
2021. 

It will feature eight races including the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold 
Coast Marathon (IAAF Label Road Race), Wheelchair Marathon, ASICS Half 
Marathon, Wheelchair 15km, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Gold Coast 
Airport Fun Run, Health and Wellbeing Queensland 4km and 2km Junior Dash.

The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon is organised by Events 
Management Queensland, a major event management company wholly owned by the 
Queensland Government as part of Tourism and Events Queensland.
