              Grandma's Marathon Registration to close June 1
             Additional Volunteers Needed for Marathon Weekend

(Duluth, MN): Registration for the 42nd running of Grandma's Marathon will 
remain open through Friday, June 1.

The country's 11th largest marathon is currently at 92% capacity for the 
June 16 event. Registration will close on June 1 at 11:59 p.m. or if the 
race course capacity of 9,000 runners is met beforehand. Runners can 
sign-up for Grandma's Marathon by visiting GrandmasMarathon.com. The entry 
fee is currently $145.

Grandma's Marathon weekend also features the 28th annual Garry Bjorklund 
Half Marathon and the 25th annual William A. Irvin 5K. The Garry Bjorklund 
Half Marathon is Saturday, June 16 at 6:15 a.m. and the William A. Irvin 5K 
is Friday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. Registration for both the half marathon and 
5K are closed. 

In order to provide the complete support that is needed for Grandma's 
Marathon weekend, there are still about 200 volunteer positions remaining. 
Volunteer positions include areas such as traffic and spectator control, 
water station assistance, medical services, racecourse entertainment, race 
packet pick-up and finish area activities. This year in particular requires 
more volunteers than usual due to the race course reroute. The additional 
volunteers will assist with wayfinding to help educate participants and 
guide spectators to appropriate viewing areas along the modified course. 

Service organizations, large groups and individuals are all welcome and 
encouraged to participate. Each volunteer receives an official Grandma's 
Marathon t-shirt, refreshment tickets and an invitation to the Grandma's 
Marathon volunteer party on Tuesday, June 26 at Grandma's Sports Garden. To
