Raises $2.5 million
HOUSTON (March 4, 2015) - The 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a
Reason charity program has raised over $2,500,000 to benefit 60 official
charities. With more than 19,000 donations, this year marks the fifth in a
row that fundraising has surpassed the $2 million plateau.
"The continued growth of the Run for a Reason program in recent years has
been truly amazing as our official charities and generous participants
raised over $2.5 million for the second consecutive year," stated Wade
Morehead, Executive Director of the Houston Marathon Committee. "There has
been significant growth in the number of donations received each year and
the number of corporate teams participating is increasing annually as well.
Interest in the program is at an all-time high and we are all extremely
thankful to be a part of this philanthropic community."
Since the program's inception in 1995, more than $22 million has been
raised to benefit various charities. Since breaking the $1 million
fundraising mark in 2008, charity donations have generated over $16
million.
