QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 1, 2014) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is debuting
the 2014 event program "Salute" online at www.marinemarathon.com.
The stunning 60-page magazine showcases "The People's Marathon" with
stirring profiles of runners honoring fallen service members and of a MCM
Hall of Fame inductee who survives Stage IV breast cancer. The magazine
also includes stories of MCM volunteers and celebrity runner Sean Astin,
best known for his title role as "Rudy," and for his recurring role in the
"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Astin is currently starring in "The
Strain" on the FX Networks.
The smartly-designed "Salute" also features the MCM Weekend of events from
Oct. 23-26, provides essential advisories and information for runners and
spectators, includes the MCM and MCM10K course maps, showcases event
technologies and features an info graphic of U.S. military participation.
The online version of Salute's articles, advertisements and information
links to a variety of resources with additional details including
innovative services, products and technologies offered by MCM sponsors. The
program was written and designed by the MCM staff headquartered at Marine
Corps Base Quantico, VA.
The "Salute" magazine will be distributed from Oct. 23 to 25 to MCM and
MCM10K runners attending the Health & Fitness Expo by GE, located at the DC
Armory. It is at the Expo where all participants will pick-up their
event-day materials before taking part in the 39th running of "The People's
Marathon."
Additional information about the 39th MCM Weekend of events is available at
www.marinemarathon.com.
Voted the "Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic" and "Best Marathon for

People's Marathon," runners from all walks of life participate in the MCM,
which is the largest marathon not to offer prize money. The 39th MCM
