Marine Corps Marathon to Open Limited Entries for Active Duty, Reservists
GEICO Sponsoring Discounted Registration for Current Military Members
Starting February 23
QUANTICO, VA (Feb. 19, 2015) - Starting Feb. 23, military members serving
on active duty or in the Reserve have an opportunity to gain entry to the
40th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) with limited entries available at a
discounted rate.
Together with GEICO, the MCM will offer 15 percent discount off the full
registration cost for "The People's Marathon." The MCM will be held on
Sunday, Oct. 25 in Arlington, VA and the nation's capital. The limited
number of discounted spots for active duty and Reserve service members will
be available beginning at noon Eastern, at www.marinemarathon.com.
Military members taking advantage of the discount will pay $106.25, or 15
percent off the MCM registration of $125. GEICO has annually partnered with
the MCM in celebration of military participants who obligate their time to
train and run the MCM.

Marine Corps Marathon," says Mike Baker, director of GEICO's military
department. "We are excited to make this special offer available to all
military members as a small token of our appreciation for their
never-ending bravery and courage."
About 10,000 military members from all service branches participate in the
MCM. Thousands of others run to honor, or to celebrate the military service
of a loved one. The MCM is open to all, age 14 and above.
Military members not able to obtain one of the limited discounted entries
can still register as the MCM opens for public lottery on Friday, March 13.
The Lottery will remain open through Monday, March 23. Registration will be
available at www.marinemarathon.com.
In addition, registration for the Marine Corps 17.75K begins March 11. The
Marine Corps 17.75K offers all finishers of the 11-mile event guaranteed
entry to this year's MCM. The Marine Corps 17.75K will be held on Saturday,
March 28 in Prince William County, VA with the course winding throughout
Prince William Forest Park. The Marine Corps 17.75K is a unique distance
event that honors the founding of the Marine Corps.
