MCM Pep Rally presented by First Command
Rousing cheers will be heard for MCM runners attending the Pep Rally
presented by First Command on Oct. 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Gaylord.
Presented by First Command, the MCM Pep Rally will include a panel of MCM
running industry experts from Aetna, Clif Bar, the Beef Checkoff Program
and wear blue: run to remember, which honors fallen service members in an
emotional tribute along the MCM course. The cost of the Pep Rally is $15
for MCM runners and $17 per guest.
MCM Runners bRUNch & 5K
You don't have to be a marathon runner to participate in the MCM Runners
bRUNch and 5K on Saturday, Oct. 29. Runners of any age can participate in
this fun, 3.1 mile untimed run over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail located
parallel to scenic National Harbor Boulevard. A catered brunch will follow
inside the Gaylord, featuring Schmacon from The Beef Checkoff and guest
speaker Bart Yasso, Chief Running Officer for "Runner's World," who has
completed marathons on every continent. The MCM Runners bRUNch begins at
8:15 a.m. Registration for the MCM Runners bRUNch is $55.
Carbo Dining In
The Carbo Dining In is the MCM's annual pasta dinner held the evening
before the Marathon. The event welcomes attendees to a military-style
dining in with patriotic music and a fantastic pasta buffet, including
gluten-free and vegetarian options. Attendees will have the opportunity to
hear from featured speaker Olympian Billy Mills, the former U.S. Marine who
competed in the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. Mills became the only U.S. Olympian
to win a gold medal in the 10,000 meters. He also received the Presidential
Citizen's Medal for his work with his nonprofit "Run Strong for American
Indian Youth." The American Bombshells, a modern-day twist on the iconic
Andrews Sisters, will perform patriotic classics throughout the evening.
Registration for the Carbo Dining is $50 for adults and $20 for kids age
four and under.
MCM Runners Conference
Free and open to the public, the MCM Runners Conference will be held on
Oct.28 and 29 at the Gaylord. Participants may choose from the variety of
sessions to include Olympians Jeff Galloway and Billy Mills. Galloway ran
the 10,000 meters in the 1972 Olympics and is the renowned creator of the
Run-Walk-Run training method. Mills, also speaking at the Carbo Dining In,
