FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cameron Helps Founder Running his 10th Mississauga Marathon
Mississauga, ON: David Harris, Founder and CEO of CameronHelps will be
lining up at the 2014 Mississauga Marathon for his 10th consecutive year to
reach his goal of $10,000 raised over 10 Mississauga Marathons. David is
raising funds for CameronHelps through the 2014 Scotiabank Charity
Challenge.
In 2005 David's son, Cameron took his own life at the age of 19. "People
grieve in different ways" Mr. Harris said. He took this as motivation to
commit to two major goals. The first was to run 19 consecutive Marathons in
Mississauga (one for each year of Cameron's life), in memory of Cameron. The
second was to help others.
"I appreciate all the support I've received over the years. It has truly
been tremendous" says David. "The Mississauga Marathon is very emotional for
me as it is a time to reflect and celebrate my son's life. Regardless of my
result I will finish knowing that Cameron was with me every step of the way.
Each one is an incredible experience" says David Harris.
"We here at Landmark Sport Group enthusiastically support CameronHelps and
what David Harris has started. He has inspired many and turned a truly
unfortunate event into one where David is committed to helping others" says
Mississauga Marathon Race Director, Krystal Duz. "We hope that sharing
David's story will inspire runners and walkers to join him at the start line
and bring awareness to everything CameronHelps stands for".
David has also created a youth run program called Team Unbreakable.
CameronHelps is demonstrating that physical activity (such as running) can
help reduce depression and assist with mental health in young people. Team
Unbreakable has grown to involve two race events, the Mississauga Marathon
participation and they also host the Unbreakable Father's Day 5K run/walk on
Sunday, June 15th 2014.
Donations are welcome for David via his personal fundraising page found here
or you can join David Harris and the CameronHelps team on Race Day, Sunday,
May 4th.
