ANNOUNCING NEW START LINE FOR 2017 MISSISSAUGA MARATHON
Mississauga, ON - Mississauga Marathon participants will be starting the
2017 event in fashion this year with the starting area being upgraded to
Mississauga Celebration Square, taking place May 5-7, 2017. The new start
line is just around the corner, and will only affect the Full Marathon, Sal
Guzzo, LL.B. Relay Challenge, and Half Marathon events, and will only
change the first kilometre of the course.
"Mississauga Celebration Square is a natural fit for the start of
Mississauga's signature sporting event," says Shari Lichterman, Director of
Recreation for the City of Mississauga. "We look forward to working with
Landmark Sport Group to facilitate this exciting enhancement to the
runners' experience."
The first kilometre of the race will begin at 201 City Centre Drive, with
runners heading east on City Centre Drive, turning right onto Kariya Drive,
and then heading west on Burnhamthorpe Road. This new start will make up
the first kilometre of the course, and will then continue with the same
route from previous years, beginning at kilometre one.
"We are very excited about this move to Celebration Square, and starting
the Marathon events in the heart of Mississauga, right next to City Hall,"
says Race Director, Brody Coles. "This location will be a great staging
area before the race, and will only add to the excitement and atmosphere as
participants gather to prepare for their run."
The new staging area at Celebration Square will include a stage and large
screen, allowing participants to engage in a pre-race warm up before the
race. For more information, and for updated course maps, please visit
