WHAT: NYRR hosted a pilot race on Sunday, September 27, the NYRR Return to
Racing Pilot 4M, the organization's first race since the pandemic shut down
in mid-March. The four-mile race took place in Central Park for nearly 200
runners from local running clubs testing out new comprehensive health and
safety guidelines.

NYRR utilized a time trial format where a maximum of 50 runners started
every half hour with two runners starting every 10 seconds. The first start
kicked-off at 6:30 a.m. New procedures and modifications were in place
including mask-wearing requirements, temperature checks, increased and
staggered starts, self-hydration options, hand sanitation stations, and
limited race amenities to uphold social distancing.
