FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Another World Record Holder Joins the Mattoni Olomouc Half Marathon Elite
Just when you thought the start line at RunCzech Running League races
couldn't get any more impressive, it will. Following the appearance of the
half marathon world champion Geoffrey Kamworor at this year's Mattoni Ceské
Budejovice Half Marahton it's Olomouc's turn to take to the limelight.
In addition to the previously announced entries of the marathon world
record holder, Wilson Kipsang, and the two time women's World Marathon
Champion, Edna Kiplagat the organizers of the Mattoni Olomouc Half
Marathon, the fifth race of RunCzech Running League 2014, have just added
another star to the start list for the June 21st race. The two reigning
Virgin Money London Marathon Champions will be joined by Dennis Kimetto,
the reigning Bank of America Chicago Marathon Champion and the 25k world
record holder who will be coming to Olomouc to challenge for the win.
Kimetto's 2:03:45 time in the 2013 Chicago race put's him in some very
exclusive company with only five men ever having run a sub 2:04 marathon on
a record eligible course.
In the men's field promising results can also be expected from RunCzech
Racing team members Nicholas Bor, and Wilfred Kigen, also from Kenya, and
we can also look forward to competing runners from Japan, Switzerland,
Poland and Ukraine. The Czechs are expected to be led by Jirí Homolác.
When it comes to the women, other runners to watch out for include Betelhem
Moges who just won the Mattoni Ceské Budejovice Half Marathon (7 June 2014)
along with her compatriots Hirut Alemayehu, and 19-year old Mame Feyisa who
won the Mattoni Karlovy Vary Half Marathon last year, along with a late
entry, Leterbrhan Gebreslasea who won the Paderborn Half Marathon this
year. The four Ethiopians, British runner, Alyson Dixon, and the
Belarusian Aliaksandra Duliba all have recorded times below 1:11.
We can also look forward to seeing top runners from Japan and Ukraine at
the start. Meanwhile the eternal series of gripping duels is set to
continue between Olomouc native Petra KamÃnková and the Olympian Ivana
Sekyrová who will both be eager to defeat Petra Pastorova, the winner in
Ceské Budejovice, and secure the Czech title. Ivana already has one win
under her belt from this year's Karlovy Vary race.
