Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. (P3R) has
announced that the 2015 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Run
for a Reason charity program raised more than $1.5 million to benefit
more than 100 local and national charities. Since the Run for a
Reason charity program launched in 2009, participants have raised
more than $7.5 million for local, national and global causes.
Hannah Camic, from Elizabeth, Pa., was the top individual fundraiser
with $19,000 in donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Camic,
who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth, completed her first
marathon at the 2015 race.
"Our charity runners are truly an inspiration and demonstrate the
devotion and perseverance that runners share," said P3R CEO Patrice
Matamoros. "Giving back to the community and changing lives are
important to our mission. We are thrilled to once again help
charities raise more than $1 million through our Run for a Reason
charity program."
More than 2,500 charity runners participating across all of the
DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events inspired
more than 19,000 charity donations during the marathon season.
