P3R Enters Second Year of Team USA Minnesota Sponsorship
Team USA Minnesota's Josh Dedering and Emily Gordon will compete
at the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler on Sunday, Oct. 25
PITTSBURGH - P3R has announced that it will renew its sponsorship of Team
USA Minnesota, a post-collegiate distance training center focused on
developing Olympians and national champions. The support of Team USA
Minnesota is part of P3R's American Development Program (ADP), an
initiative to increase exposure and racing opportunities for American
professional runners.
"Team USA Minnesota has done an outstanding job of developing talented
American athletes from the mile to the marathon," said P3R CEO Patrice
Matamoros. "We are proud to partner with a training group who shares our
mission in supporting and developing Olympic-caliber talent in the United
States."
Several members of Team USA Minnesota have participated in past P3R events,
including GNC Live Well Liberty Mile champions Heather Kampf and Gabriele
Grunewald. Team members Josh Dedering and Emily Gordon – who have both
qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials - will also compete at
P3R's next event, the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler on Sunday, Oct. 25.
"We are so pleased that the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon has renewed
its sponsorship of our group," said Patricia Goodwin, president and founder
of Team USA Minnesota. "The support we received this past year enabled us
to attract talented new athletes to our team and provide them with the
resources they need to succeed. Plus, our runners really enjoy competing
in Pittsburgh's quality events throughout the year – at the marathon and
half marathon, the mile, and the 10 mile – and being involved with their
youth running programs as well. It's a great partnership."
As part of the American Development Program, P3R offers complimentary
entry, prize money, travel assistance and grant opportunities for its
series of events, which include the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh
Marathon, UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon, GNC Live Well Liberty
Mile and the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The American Development Program also
inspires the next generation of runners by offering a pen pal program
connecting professional athletes and P3R's Kids of STEEL participants.
