    Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon Introduces Family Finisher Bibs 

CANTON, Ohio (January 15, 2014) – The Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon 
introduces Family Finisher bibs, which will provide a secure way for family 
members to cross the finish line with those participating in the race.

On race day, those with Family Finisher bibs will be placed in a staging 
corral 100 yards from the finish line.  As marathon runners approach the 
finish line in Fawcett Stadium, family members will be permitted to join 
their loved ones for the final 100 yards to the finish.  A special lane 
will also be established to ensure a free and clear path to the finish line 
so as not to impede other runners.

"The tragedy at the 2013 Boston Marathon forced every running event to 
re-evaluate their security measures," said Jim Chaney, executive race 
director.  "Historically, you would see a Father carry a child across the 
finish line, or a loved one overcoming an illness and crossing the line 
with his or her spouse.  Sadly that tradition has been mostly eliminated 
around the country, and we're looking forward to bringing it back!"

Specialty running store Second Sole of Ohio is partnering with the Pro 
Football Hall of Fame Marathon on Family Finisher bibs.

"Second Sole brought this concept to us," Chaney said.  "And collectively 
we felt that if we could find a way to manage the activity rather than 
prohibit it, everyone would win."

A limited number of Family Finisher bibs will be sold to marathon-only 
participants the day before the race at the expo.  Registration information 
will be collected and placed on file including a parent/runner signature.

Proceeds from the sale of the bibs will be donated to a local charity.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon will take place Sunday, April 27, at 
7 a.m., starting and ending at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  It includes 
a full and half marathon.  Registration is ahead of pace and race 
organizers are expecting both events to reach their caps by March of 2014.  
Hopeful participants are encouraged to register early at 
www.hofmarathon.com.
