Pro Football Hall of Fame Partners With
SoleMates to Raise Critical Funds for Girls on the Run
Canton, OH (October 20, 2014) - In a first-of-its-kind partnership, the Pro
Football Hall of Fame Marathon (HOF Marathon) has partnered with SoleMates,
the adult fundraising leg of Girls on the Run Stark County (GOTR Stark).
Through the program, marathon, half marathon and five-person relay
participants can sign up to become SoleMates and raise critical funds
through their training and race day participation.
In exchange, SoleMates receive VIP treatment at the race, including a
warm-up tent, bag check, registration discounts, a personalized fundraising
website, training plans, group runs and other special incentives.
"Girls on the Run helps girls in Stark County become more joyful, healthy
and confident," said HOF Marathon race director Jim Chaney. "SoleMates
athletes are on a mission to complete much more than just a race. They're
dedicated to helping girls participate in this important
confidence-building program."
GOTR Stark is motivated by more than 800 girls who will take part in the
cutting-edge afterschool programming this spring.
GOTR Stark leads girls through a curriculum-based program that empowers
them to have greater self-awareness, sense of achievement and a foundation
in team-building to help them become strong, self-confident young women.
Funds raised by SoleMates help fund scholarships for girls who would
otherwise be unable to participate due to their financial situations.
For an initial fee of $26, race participants can register to become
SoleMates at gotrstarckcty.org/SoleMates.
The HOF Marathon will celebrate its second year the weekend of April 24 -
26, 2015. Race weekend includes a full race expo, a family friendly
NFL/College-style family combine, a 5k run on Saturday, and the Marathon,
Half Marathon and Five Person Team Relay on Sunday. Participants can
register at www.hofmarathon.com.

About SoleMates
The Girls on the Run SoleMates program provides people an opportunity to
raise money for Girls on the Run of Stark County, while training for the
athletic event of their choice. SoleMates set personal goals such as
running in a marathon, half marathon, or marathon relay to raise money for
Girls on the Run in their community. Each year, our SoleMates raise
critically needed funds that ensure our councils are able to serve more
girls in their communities.
About Girls on the Run of Stark County
Established in 2009, Girls on the Run of Stark County (GOTR Stark), a
501(c)(3) nonprofit, began its positive youth development program with 24
third through fifth grade girls at three Stark County schools. Led by
trained coaches who guide and mentor the girls through a curriculum-based
program, more than 800 girls will be empowered with greater self-awareness,
a sense of achievement, and a foundation in team-building to help them
become strong, self-confident young women in the spring of 2015. Over the
course of the 10-week program, the girls train together to walk, skip, or
run the Girls on the Run 5k Run/Walk at Walsh University on May 30, 2015.
GOTR Stark is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International,
which has a network of over 200 locations across the United States and
