Ironman Extends Agreement With Sportstats For North American Ironman
And Ironman 70.3 And Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Series Events
Long-term partnership ensures accurate and quality timing for IRONMAN
and Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series events
TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2018) - IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holdings company,
announced an extension today naming one of the world's most trusted timing
associations, Sportstats, as the time-keeper for the majority of North
American events. The multi-year agreement continues the significant
relationship that has already benefited hundreds of thousands of IRONMAN®
and IRONMAN 70.3® triathletes, and now the thousands of runners who
participate in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series®.
Sportstats has been timing IRONMAN events since 1997, beginning with
IRONMAN Canada, and has also provided their services for the IRONMAN World
Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i since 2004. With IRONMAN's acquisition
of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series in 2017, Sportstats is also providing
timing services for all Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series events in the US and
Canada, allowing runners to use updated technology, including new timing
chips on bibs.
"We are proud to continue this long-standing partnership with Sportstats as
they have played a critical role in offering our athletes an exceptional
race experience," said Shane Facteau, Chief Operating Officer of IRONMAN.
"We look forward to the continued evolution of this relationship as our
event portfolio expands and technology evolves."
Sportstats has also worked closely with IRONMAN to introduce Real-Time Race
Tracking™ (RTRT.me), the cutting-edge app designer behind the innovative
LIVE result technology. The new applications have allowed for a more
accurate and reliable tracking experience for IRONMAN and Rock 'n' Roll
Marathon Series events. Since the start of this year, the IRONMAN and Rock
'n' Roll Marathon Series Tracker Apps have been downloaded nearly 600,000
times and proven to be tremendously successful and well received. With live
tracking, real-time results, and instant notifications, IRONMAN Tracker
allows users to fully engage with an event and its competitors from the
palms of their hands.
"IRONMAN is a global company and prestigious sports brand, and Sportstats
remains committed to accurately recording and posting all of their
athletes' finishing times," said Marc Roy, CEO of Sportstats, IRONMAN
triathlete, and longtime participant in the sport. "At Sportstats, we
realize that athletes demand accurate LIVE timing, especially in an event
as important as IRONMAN triathlon or Rock 'n' Roll Series Marathon, and
we're proud to uphold the high standards that they demand."
Sportstats also times IRONMAN events in South America, Thailand,
Philippines and Mexico, among many other areas around the globe. With the
opening of Sportstats offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Clermont,
Florida, the extension ensures the company's presence at IRONMAN and Rock
'n' Roll Marathon Series events across North America. In all, Sportstats
will be providing timing services for over 1,000 events yearly.
"We recognize that IRONMAN and participation in triathlon and running are
expanding around the world, and we know that the US is always going to be a
huge market," Roy continued. "Sportstats is a global leader in timing for
running and IRONMAN events, and we know the North American market for
IRONMAN will only grow over the coming years. It's a good day for IRONMAN
and a good day for Sportstats. We are proud to time thousands of
triathletes and runners across the many fantastic North American events."
