FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2015 Tallahassee Marathon Elite Field Set,
Half Marathon Registration Closed
For the upcoming 41st Tallahassee Marathon, event directors announce that
its companion half marathon is full and no longer accepting entries. The
half marathon has filled to capacity and closed two to three weeks prior to
the race date for several years now, and this year is no exception. The
races are on Sunday, February 8, 2015, with the start and finish of the
races on the campus of Florida State University.
The elite athlete field for the marathon is now closed and includes two
previous men's race winners: Bryan Morseman (2014 win) of Bath, NY, and
Chris Zablocki (2013 win) of Essex, CT. Both will be attempting to run the
26.2 mile marathon in a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes or less in order to
qualify for the Olympic Trials marathon, which will be held February 13,
2016 in Los Angeles. Previous two time women's race winner and holder of
the master's women course record (2:45:06), Nina Kraft, will be back to run
as well.
The rest of the elite athlete field also includes Terri Rejimbal (Tampa,
FL), Jordan Nelson (St. Augustine, FL), Sarah Crouch (Chicopee, MA), Larry
Smart (Tampa, FL), Arturs Bareikis (Crestwood, IL), William Sanders
(Wethersfield, CT), Christopher Mills (Davie, FL), Mark Chepses (Searcy,
AR), and Cole Atkins (Blowing Rock, NC).
The races currently have registrations from 34 other states, Washington
D.C., and five foreign countries including Canada, the Netherlands,
Colombia, Denmark, and Russia. Proceeds from the race benefit local
running activities and The American Lung Association of Florida.
