(Minneapolis) – From rock and roll, to Dixieland, dance and pipe bands,
there is entertainment for every type of runner along the Medtronic Twin
Cities Marathon course Sunday. 32 acts, including bands, choirs, dance
teams, drummers and a tuba player, as well as the Cities 97 Main Stage
band, The New Congress, will perform along the marathon and ten-mile
course.
"The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America® is well-known for its
amazing community support, "said Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. executive
director Virginia Brophy Achman. "The more than 300,000 friends, family and
spectators who line the course add excitement to the great line-up of
entertainment planned for runners on Sunday."
Twelve Official Cheer Zones will decorate their yards in an effort to
create energetic diversions for participants and to take part in the
celebration of the day. The Cheer Zones, in their second year, are judged
by race officials along the route as they compete for cash awards to be
donated to a charity, non-profit, community center or school in their
neighborhood.
Chippewa Springs Water, Mountain Blast flavored POWERade sports drink,
toilets, and medical aid are available at approximately miles 2.5, 5, 7,
