LAWSON SOFTWARE SPONSORS TWIN CITIES MARATHON CORPORATE TEAM CHALLENGE
More Than 20 Twin Cities Companies Expected to Participate In Challenge
Minneapolis, Minnesota – August 30, 2002 – As a Silver Sponsor of the 2002
Twin Cities Marathon (TCM) and sponsor of the TCM Corporate Team Challenge,
Lawson Software and its employees are showing they can run more than
computers. With 30 employees running in the marathon, Team Lawson is the
largest of the 20 corporate teams participating in the 21st annual Twin
Cities Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 29.
An additional 30 employees plan to run the 10-mile race, bringing Lawson’s
participation to 60 runners. To help prepare the large group for the race,
Lawson turned to TCM course director Tom Lahn, who provided each Team
Lawson member with a personalized training program. To stay motivated, team
members also trained over lunch or after work.
"The involvement and camaraderie has been great," said Tim Farley, Team
Lawson Captain. "We have quite a few first timers running the marathon and
10-mile race. In addition to runners, we also have more than 50 employees
volunteering with their families to work at the Lawson-sponsored water
stop."
Unlike most marathons’ corporate challenges, which only vie for the fastest
runners, Lawson’s Corporate Team Challenge takes a more inclusive approach.
The winning team will include the fastest time of a rookie, master (over
40) and female runner, as well as the top times of two other runners.
The deadline for submitting a TCM Corporate Team Challenge application is
Sept. 9. For more information, visit www.twincitiesmarathon.org or call
the TCM office at 612-925-3500, ext. 10.
The 2002 TCM weekend is September 27-29. TCM will host the 2002 USA Men’s,
Women’s and Masters Marathon Championships. The three-day weekend
celebration of fitness includes a 5K fun run/walk, children’s fun runs, a
pasta dinner, a two-day health and fitness expo, and a 10-mile race in
addition to the marathon. Major corporate sponsors for the marathon are
Cub Foods, Calhoun Beach Club and Seagate Technology. The major media
sponsors are KARE 11 and Cities 97. Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. is a
non-profit organization that directs the TCM weekend as a community service
for the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Visit us at www.twincitiesmarathon.org.
