New USA TODAY Sports endurance platform quickly
up to 14 events since July launch
McLean, Va., October 13, 2015 – The USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance, a
network that brings together many of the nation's finest independent
marathons and half marathons under one roof, announced today that it has
added seven additional running events to its growing portfolio.
The newly-signed events bring the USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance up to 14
major running events since its launch in late July.
The seven newly-signed events include:
· Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon
· Thunder Road Marathon (Charlotte, NC)
· US Bank OC Marathon (Orange County, CA)
· Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
· South Padre Island (TX) Marathon
· Baltimore Running Festival
· Oakland Running Festival
Those events join the seven founding event partners of the USA TODAY Sports
Active Alliance that were originally announced in July. Those events were
the Eversource Hartford Marathon; the Portland (OR) Marathon; the
California International Marathon; the Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon; the
Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon; the GO! St. Louis Marathon; and
the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.
"With the addition of this new group of races, we continue to reinforce our
mission of bringing the country's finest, independent marathons together
under our umbrella,” said Bruce Revman, senior director of the USA TODAY
Sports Active Alliance. "We're committed to supporting them with meaningful
and relevant media to heighten their profile, secure new race partners and
grow their registrations.
"At the end of the day, these are the best of the best big city marathons,
and along with our ‘founding seven' races, we're well on our way to
establishing the USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance as one of the premier
properties in running."
The USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance is designed to allow marketers to
efficiently navigate media, marketing and sponsorship opportunities through
one centralized source.
Races within the Active Alliance receive visibility from a national

TODAY Sports and its parent Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), provide, thus
delivering new partnerships, increased local and regional promotion and
