VICTORIA, BC, September 11, 2015 -- The regular registration deadline for
the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon is just days away – on Tuesday,
September 15. The 36th Annual event features a Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K
Road Race and Thrifty Foods Kids Run. For the seventh year in a row the
event will host the BC Marathon Championships.
"It isn't too late to think about registering. With the amazing weather we
are enjoying, it is perfect conditions for training," says Cathy Noel,
General Manager of the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon. "We encourage
everyone to challenge themselves, colleagues, friends and family to be at
the start line on October 11. There are also 20 fantastic charities to
donate a little or a lot to."
The regular marathon entry fee is $110. The deadline also applies to the
Half Marathon and the 8K Road Race where the fees are $85 and $45. After
September 15 late registration fees will apply – $130 for the Marathon, $95
for the Half Marathon and $50 for the 8K Road Race. The entry fee for the
Thrifty Foods Kids Run remains at $17 until October 10.
The event is known for its superior New Balance technical garments and this
year is no exception. Marathon participants receive a half-zip long-sleeved
performance shirt, half marathoners receive a long-sleeved shirt, and 8K
participants a short-sleeved shirt. To guarantee size, participants must
register by October 7.
The total prize purse for the Marathon and Half Marathon is $46,650, with
$4,000 each going to the top male and female Marathoner, and a $5,000 bonus
for a new men's or women's Marathon course record. The Men's course record
was set in 2013 by Lamech Mokono in 2:13:42 and the Women's by Lucy Njeri
