(Victoria, BC – September 16, 2015) The GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon

on Saturday, October 10 during the Race Expo at the Victoria Conference
Centre. Darrell Fox, Terry Fox's brother, local ultra runners Matt Cecill,
Lori Herron and Myke LaBelle, and author Carrie Snyder are among the
speakers. The 36th Annual GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon takes place on
Sunday, October 11.
It has been 35 years since Terry Fox embarked on his Marathon of Hope, and
to mark the occasion, Terry's brother, Darrell will share how his legacy
lives on through the Terry Fox Foundation, the Terry Fox Research Institute
and the Terry Fox Centre. "We are very pleased to have Terry's younger
brother Darrell sharing insights into this Canadian hero and explaining how
Terry's message of hope, courage and determination lives on through new and
visionary projects," says Rob Reid, Race Director.
Endurance runners will be interested to hear personal stories of surviving
and thriving long distance events by Victoria runners Matt Cecill, Lori
Herron and Myke LaBelle. They will be joined by Steve King, Race Announcer,
Rich Benyo, editor of Marathon and Beyond, and Rhonda Prevost, the first
woman to run the Death Valley/Mt Whitney course in 1995.
Carrie Snyder will be reading from her novel Girl Runner about fictional
Olympic athlete Aganetha Smart, and her experiences on the Canadian track
team in 1928 in Amsterdam. Author and masters athlete Margaret Webb shares
her mission impossible story: getting fitter after 50 than she was as a
Varsity athlete.

hydration, including new information on what some of the best ultra-runners
