Press Release - Victoria Marathon - 1/27/22

            2022 Royal Victoria Marathon Registration Now Open!

(Victoria, BC - January 27, 2022) Registration for the 2022 Royal Victoria 
Marathon (RVM) is now open. The event, which features a return of the 
Marathon in addition to the Half Marathon and 8K, will take place on 
Sunday, October 9, 2022. Details about the Kids Run will be announced at a 
future date. There will also be a virtual component for those not wishing 
to participate in-person.

Registration includes a technical shirt, medal, race number, and race bag. 
Marathon participants will receive a ¼ zip New Balance technical shirt, 
Half Marathon participants will receive a long-sleeved technical shirt and 
8K runners a short-sleeved technical shirt.

"We are in full planning mode for 2022 Race Week and look forward to 
welcoming past participants, sponsors and volunteers to join us to make the 
event this year one to remember," says Cathy Noel, RVM Race Director & GM. 
"For those that haven’t participated before, we extend a special invitation 
to all of you to commit to training and for being at the start line on 
October 9th. Through our training programs, Facebook training group and 
newsletters we will be there for all of you to inspire, educate and 
motivate you in the countdown to Race Day."

All participants will be required to be fully vaccinated to participate in 
the live event on October 9. RVM will continue to follow all COVID 
protocols as updated by the Provincial Health Officer and Athletics Canada. 
Participants must acknowledge this policy during registration and will be 
required to show their proof of vaccination and valid government photo ID 
at Package Pickup to collect their race bibs. The fully vaccinated policy 
aligns with best practices being administered by other large events.

The CHEK Charity Pledge Program will also return for its 18th year. To date 
the program has raised over $2 million for local charities.
