Dances With Dirt, 100 km (62 Miles of Extreme Running)
Comes to Hell, Michigan
HELL (MI), July 25, 2000 - Close to 1,000 extreme trail running athletes
from around the world will converge for this romp in the Swamp and test of
human endurance on September 9, 2000.
Dances With Dirt is by far the longest and most grueling running event in
the Midwest. Dances with Dirt was chosen by the national publication "Trail
Runner Magazine" as one of the "Dirty Dozen", one of the 12 most difficult
trail running events in the world.
Go to www.danceswithdirt.com for more information and a list of entered
individual ultra-marathon trail runners and team members.
Event Information
The Course: 62 off road, and often, "off trail", miles of swamps, river
crossings, hills and ankle twisting footing. Those who enter will be
scratched, bruised and at times, lost. Insane terrain.
The 3 Dances With Dirt Events: Individual 50 km (31 miles), 50 mile
individual event, and a 100 km (62 mile) 5 person team relay.
History: This is the 5th year of Dances With Dirt and going with
tradition, the most difficult one yet. The most popular trail runs, and
most trail runners, hail from the Eastern US and the Rocky Mountain
States. Dances with Dirt has made its mark by introducing extreme trail
runners to lowland swamps and jungle like conditions. Dances With Dirt
offers challenge not found in the extreme mountain running events. This
has led to the event's popularity, exposure and continued growth.
Start & Finish: Half Moon Lake Beach, Pinckney Recreation Area, Pinckney,
MI. Fun spectator viewing of run exchange point in downtown Hell,
Michigan!
Sponsors:
Adidas: The premier manufacturer of extreme running footwear
Running Fit: Michigan’s premier chain of running specialty stores
