        Lottery drawing has ended for the Marine Corps Marathon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Marine Corps Marathon received an overwhelming response from its first
time ever On-line Lottery Drawings. On February 15, 2002 through May 2, 
2002 applications were available for runners to fill out on-line at
www.MarineMarathon.com. Runners were able to apply alone or in groups. 
These registrations were placed in a lottery where the Marine Corps 
Marathon staff randomly selected participants for the Marathon. The 
selection process was held every Friday and the last drawing was on May 3, 
2002. 

Rick Nealis, Race Director, found this lottery to be a great success.
"Fairness in the random selection, and the ease of registering, made this
years process one of the best," said Nealis. Additionally, "the group
registration allowed training partners the guarantee to be able to run
together on Oct. 27th."
