America's Marathon Man to Join MarathonGuide.com Team
MarathonGuide.com is very pleased to announce the addition of Jerry Dunn to its writing and advisory team. Jerry is known in many circles as "America's Marathon Man". His most recent accomplishment was to run 200 marathon distances in one year, each one of them on a certified marathon course. His slogan was 200 IN 2000, and on December 10, 2000, at the HOPS Marathon by Tampa Bay, he completed his year long endeavor, and actually ran his fastest time of the year... a blazing 4:05:30.
Jerry has done some other rather amazing feats of endurance over the course of his 26 year running career, and we here at MarathonGuide.com are sure that you will enjoy reading his unique "spin" on these adventures. Jerry lives by the motto: "Don't limit your challenges... Challenge your limits", and he believes that "we can all do more than we think we can, more than we expect of ourselves." He has proven that many times over, through his running and his battle with alcoholism and drug abuse. Now he is ready to use the "page and the podium" to entertain and inspire.
Jerry chose MarathonGuide.com as his opening venue in much the same way that many other things have happened in his life... "it found me".
"I'm one of those people that believes there are no accidental events..everything happens according to some greater plan, and if we just put ourselves in the flow of life, and pay attention, and remain true to our dreams...we will be shown the way". So it seems only fitting that America's Marathon Man, would find himself at our site... MarathonGuide.com.
In the weeks and months ahead, we will be featuring articles by Jerry Dunn, on a wide variety of running related topics. We think you will find them to be helpful and humorous; insightful and informational; and from the heart.
Jerry has never won a race in his life, not even in his age group,... (a couple of second-place finishes, when the field was small), ...so he will be writing for the Middle-Of-the-Pack runners, not the Top runners - although even the speedsters may get a kick out of Jerry's mid-pack perspective.
Jerry will also be drawing from his educational experience and his 40,000 road miles, as he answers your questions about not only the practical matters of running a marathon, but also the psychological issues that arise when one takes on the challenge of running 26.2 miles. So feel free to take advantage of this new resource available here at MarathonGuide.com by sending your questions... about anything... to Jerry Dunn, America's Marathon Man.
