FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The New official Map for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON,
Created With Our New Partner HERE
To satisfy varoius individual demands-that is the aim of the official map
for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. An event with about 50,000 participants, over
a million spectators, and a city with 3.5 million inhabitants and more than
a hundred thousand tourists on one weekend - that means a major challenge
for providing optimal map information for a diverse group of users.
For the first time ever, we now have a unified map for the participants,
visitors and Berliners to help them navigate the city before and during the
race; in addition, it includes up-to-date information specific to the
various target groups: the race course, overview of the start/finish area,
road blocks, and even the locations of the accompanying cultural program
and sightseeing attractions of the capital.
The digital map is available online and as part of the official BMW
BERLIN-MARATHON App for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. It is already
integrated into the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON website at:
www.bmw-berlin-marathon.com/en/race-week/interactive-map.html.
A printed version of the map will be distributed to participants and
tourists to provide them with all the relevant information about the course
and the city. In addition, HERE will also be providing maps to the
television stations to help them present the course to their viewers.
Christoph Erbenich, Chief Marketing Officer of HERE, says: "The BMW
BERLIN-MARATHON belongs to Berlin like the TV Tower and grand boulevard
Kurfürstendamm. As a partner of the marathon with about 1,000 employees
based in Berlin, we are delighted to be able to present the official event
map together with SCC EVENTS. Finally the participants, spectators and
Berliners have the perfect map to find their way around the marathon and to
experience a fabulous time in the city."
Christian Jost, Managing Director of SCC EVENTS: "With a map that provides
orientation for so many different target groups, we have now reached a
level in that realm that our marathon has already reached with respect to
the quality of our top athletes. We are happy that we can provide such an
optimal tool to assist all the Berliners who are interested in the
marathon. In addition, the media thus also has an opportunity to provide
helpful service for all of the Berliners who are out and about in their
cars."
The partnership was brought about by the exclusive marketing partner of SCC
EVENTS, Infront Sports & Media.
HERE, a Nokia company, is a leader in navigation, mapping and location
experiences.
The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is said to be the fastest marathon in the world. It
has delivered the last 5 world records for the men's marathon: in between
2003 and 2013 the record mark went from 2:04:55 (Paul Tergat, Kenya) to
2:03:23 (Wilson Kipsang, Kenya). The event is part of the World Marathon
Majors, a series consisting of six of the largest and most renowned
marathons in the world: the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, Virgin Money
London Marathon, BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Bank of America Chicago Marathon and
TCS New York City Marathon. It was founded in 2006. In this year´s event
(28. September) the line-up of elite athletes includes some of the fastest
and most successful marathon runners in the history of the sport including
Dennis Kimetto, Emmanuel Mutai (both from Kenya) and Tsegaye Kebede
(Ethiopia).
