FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kick-start your Virgin Money London Marathon journey with Mo-Joe
28/12/2017
Audible, an official audio partner of the Virgin Money London Marathon, has
announced a new Audible Original audio show, Mo-Joe, an 18-week marathon
training diary featuring Sir Mo Farah, Joe Wicks and George Lamb.
Mo-Joe will give runners the advice, skills and confidence they need to
take their training to the next level, regardless of their ability. Listen
to episode one, free with Audible's 30-day trial, at www.audible.co.uk/run.
Perfectly timed to help listeners work off those Christmas leftovers, Sir
Mo Farah and The Body Coach, Joe Wicks, partner together to form the
perfect pair of trainers – funny, engaging and full of useful hints and
tips to help you improve your fitness. Listen in as they coach presenter
George Lamb through a blood, sweat and tears journey from running novice to
marathon pro in just 18 short weeks.
Weaving together intimate audio diary entries from George with expert
advice on sports science, equipment, nutrition, routines, rest and
everything in-between, Mo-Joe captures George's determination – and at
times, dread – as he prepares for the 26.2 mile race at this year's Virgin
Money London Marathon on 22nd April 2018.
New episodes will be released weekly so runners can train alongside George
as he tackles: finding the right footwear, food shopping for his new
marathon-friendly diet, pacing, motivation and final race day hacks to help
break through the wall (and avoid chafed nipples). The series also includes
weekly running goals as advised by the Virgin Money London Marathon and Sir
Mo Farah, to help listeners keep on track with their running schedule.
Listeners who have their own training questions are invited to share their
thoughts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #RunWithAudible. In the
final weeks leading up to the Virgin Money London Marathon, Audible will
bring together a panel of experts for a special Q&A episode which addresses
some of listeners' most frequently asked questions.
Joining Mo, Joe and George, the series will also feature interviews with
special guests and London Marathon Heroes – including Dame Kelly Holmes
amongst others – who'll share their own hilarious trials, tribulations and
successes during the course of their athletic careers.
Sir Mo Farah said: "It's been good fun and really rewarding to work on this
series with Audible, George and Joe. In many ways George's journey acts as
a perfect example of what any of us can achieve when we set our minds to
something. Whether you're training for the Olympics or your first marathon,
all you need is a goal to work towards, the motivation to keep pushing
yourself, and the determination to work through the challenges you'll face.
"Whether you're running the Virgin Money London Marathon this year or not,
hopefully Mo-Joe will inspire runners of all levels to keep active. I can't
wait to see how George improves over the next 18 weeks. I'll be sure to
keep an eye out for him in this year's race... once I'm safely over the
finish line that is!"
Presenter and Virgin Money London Marathon guinea pig, George Lamb, said:
"I'm extremely excited, all be it a bit intimidated by the thought of doing
the Virgin Money London Marathon next year – it's something I've always
wanted to have a go at but haven't ever been sure where to start. This is
going to be an amazing challenge for me and it's not everyone that gets to
say they were trained by an Olympian and one of the world's best personal
trainers. If that doesn't give me the motivation to get to the finish line,
I don't know what will!"
Audible UK Country Manager, Tracey Markham, said: "We're delighted to be
working with the Virgin Money London Marathon 2018 as an official audio
partner. We wanted to create this series to give everyone participating the
inspiration to keep going and get some incredible firsthand bits of advice
from Mo Farah and Joe Wicks. We'll be rooting for George and every listener
to fly past that finish line."
Episode one of Mo-Joe is available now, free with Audible's 30-day trial,
at www.audible.co.uk/run.
