FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MIAMI MARATHON COURSE LINED WITH ENTERTAINMENT DIVERSIONS FOR RUNNERS
Cheer teams, bands, drumlines set to support runners throughout course
The 24,000 runners taking part in Sunday's Miami Marathon and Half Marathon
will find a lot of encouragement along the way in the form of a variety of
entertainment to help make crossing the finish line that much easier.
Entertainment is always a large part of the Marathon experience at Miami
and this year-from the moment local rising artist Ariel Rose again performs
the National Anthem at the start line to when the dance band El Side
Project entertains at the Post Race party-runners will have plenty to
distract them from the toughness of the endurance test.
"We're committed to providing a fabulous experience for both participants
and spectators during race weekend and take great pride in showcasing the
talents of the city from world renowned DJ's to up-and-coming artists and
bands," said Race Director Javier Sanchez. "The finish line festival this
year will feature the best of this culturally diverse hotspot,
Miami-style."
On course entertainment will include 9 DJs and 6 Bands, plus Drum Lines and
Color Guards fromCoral Springs High School, Miami Killian High School,
Miami Coral Park High School and the South Florida Center for Percussive
Arts.
There will be seven Cheer Zones. Baptist Health is sponsoring Cheer Zones
at 1100 Washington Ave in Miami Beach, the Omni Cheer Zone (including the
music of Xpresso), and at 2600 Brickell Ave. Team Lifeline will have a
Community Cheer Zone at 5th And Alton Road on Miami Beach. Friendship
Circle International will have a Cheer Zone at NE 15th Ave and N Miami Ave.
Lululemon Cheer Zone will be at N. Miami Ave between NW 13th and NW 11th
Terrace. Christ Fellowship Cheer Zone will be at North Miami Ave. and NW.
5th Street. The Miami Parrot Head Club will have its traditional Cheer Zone
at Key Biscayne. And the Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Florida
will have a Community Cheer Zone at 1101 Brickell Ave.
Kids Run Miami will feature appearances by mascots Stanley C Panther of the
Florida Panthers and Billy The Marlin of the Florida Marlins plus a live
band performance from Guitars over Guns.
El Side Project, the band which recorded the Official Marathon Song "Go",
will blend rhythms from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba and Puerto Rico in its
performance at the post-race party inside Bayfront Park.
