FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Charity Action: EASTERMARATHON2020
You for you – all for the good
The MUNICH MARATHON GmbH invites all runners through the easter holidays,
to run their very own personal marathon. The goal: 42,195 kilometres from
Friday to Easter Monday in four daily stages. Everyone can - as far as the
currently applicable legal regulations of each country - run alone and at a
safe distance in its immediate surroundings. And if you want, you can
donate for the Bavarian Red Cross and their heroes of the Corona crisis.
The good news in these difficult times: running alone is still possible in
Germany and many other countries - despite exit restrictions and assembly
bans. No matter if in the city, in the park or in the forest:
currently more people are running than ever. Many also take advantage of
the opportunity to run in the home environment through running on the
treadmill to keep fit.
Over the easter holidays, the MUNICH MARATHON GmbH and its
partners are now offering an event to all running enthusiasts in which
everyone runs for themselves and is part of a major campaign. Gernot Weigl,
Managing Director of the München Marathon GmbH: "All participants are
united by their love of running. We dedicate the EASTERMARATHON2020, which
was launched at short notice, to the heroes of the Corona crisis.
Participation is free of charge, but anyone who wants to, can do a free
donation when registering. We will pass on the proceeds of the action
completely to our partner of many years, the Bavarian Red Cross Munich."
And here's the deal:
The action begins on Friday, April 10th at sunrise 6:33 a.m. and ends
Easter-Monday, April13th with sunset at 8:02 p.m. Over the Easter-weekend,
everyone can master the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres in their own
personal environment. It is up to each individual to decide in how many
sections or daily stages the distance is completed. The runners are free
in their choice of location. Whether forest, treadmill or domestic
environment - everything is conceivable. The most important thing is: run
alone and keep your distance to other people. Just as the current
regulations of each country dictate. In countries with a police controlled
curfew and for people in quarantine creativity is required: garden, house,
apartment or balcony - everything is conceivable.
Interested people can register as participants on the website
www.ostermarathon2020.de. There you also have the possibility to donate.
After registration, you will receive a link to the page where you can
enter the kilometers you have run. The list of participants will be
published on http://www.ostermarathon2020.de/de_de/starterliste.
After the EASTERMARATHON2020 each participant will receive a personal
certificate to download with his kilometer performance and time. There is
no evaluation - being there is everything.
The Bavarian Red Cross will use the proceeds to buy protective clothing.
"As the Munich Red Cross, we care for sick, injured, weak and needy people
every day. To do this, we urgently need protective equipment for our
employees in the rescue service and in our care facilities. At present, we
have to procure these at high prices on the international market", explains
Karl Heinz Demenat, Chairman of the Bavarian Red Cross District Association
in Munich. "We are dependent on help so that we can help. The
Eastermarathon is a great action of solidarity. Thanks to every single
runner, who has to cover the 42 kilometres for the good cause of the race.
We'll hold out for you! Hang in there for us!" Publication free of charge.
