Application Open for Entry to the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon
Both guaranteed and non-guaranteed entry applications will be open for one
month, from January 21 through February 21
Event celebrates its 40th anniversary as a five-borough race on Sunday,
November 6, 2016, and will be broadcast live in the New York area on
WABC-TV, Channel 7, and nationally on ESPN2
New York, January 21, 2016—The application for entry to the 2016 TCS New
York City Marathon opened online at tcsnycmarathon.org today. The
month-long runner application window for both guaranteed and non-guaranteed
entry will remain open through February 21. The race, which is the premier
event of New York Road Runners and the largest marathon in the world, will
take place on Sunday, November 6.
"The TCS New York City Marathon is where the world comes to run," said
Peter Ciaccia, president of events for New York Road Runners and race
director of the TCS New York City Marathon. "Today is the day to apply, to
aim to experience the crowd-lined streets and achieve your lifetime goals.
We want to share in your excitement and celebrate together."
Runners who earned guaranteed entry must claim their spot during the
month-long application window. Information regarding guaranteed entry is
available at tcsnycmarathon.org.
Non-guaranteed entry is gained through a drawing that brings together
runners of all ages and abilities from around the world. The non-guaranteed
applicant drawing will be held on March 8, 2016.
Runners can also receive a guaranteed spot in the race by running for
NYRR's Team for Kids. Team for Kids is a committed group of adult runners
from around the world who add meaning to their miles by raising funds for
NYRR's Youth and Community Services programs. More than 200,000 students
are served locally and nationally through NYRR's free youth running
programs, events, and resources, including more than 120,000 in New York
City's five boroughs.

The 2016 TCS New York City Marathon will feature the world's top
professional athletes and a vast range of competitive, recreational, and
charity runners, as well as thousands of volunteers and more than one
million spectators lining the streets of New York City's five boroughs. The
race will once again air live in the New York area on WABC-TV, Channel 7,
and nationally on ESPN2.
