            TWIN CITIES MARATHON REGISTRATION HALF FULL

Minneapolis, Minn. – May 4, 2001 – Registration for the 20th running of the
Twin Cities Marathon on October 7th is half full. In the 2 days since
registration opened, 4,284 people have registered for the 8,500 runner
field, including 2,950 from on-line registrations.  On-line registration
will close at 6,000 entrants.

Registration is on pace to fill in record time.  Runners are encouraged to
register as soon as possible.  Runners can check the marathon’s website at
www.twincitiesmarathon.org for on-line registration availability through
Active.com.  To pick up a registration form in person, stop by the Twin
Cities Marathon office in the Calhoun Beach Club or check with local running

Twin Cities Marathon continues its 10th consecutive year as the designated
USATF National Masters Championship for men and women.  In addition to the
marathon, the Twin Cities Marathon features a three-day weekend celebration
of fitness, including a Saturday 5K Fun Run/Walk and children’s fun runs, a
pasta dinner, a two-day Health and Fitness Expo and a 10 mile race on
Sunday. Major sponsors for the 2001 marathon are Cub and the Calhoun Beach
Club. The major media sponsors are KARE 11 and Cities 97.  The designated
community contributions are Bolder Options, Second Harvest Food Bank of
Greater Minneapolis and St. Paul and Twin Cites Marathon scholarship
