"Very good small-town race" (about: 2011)

Really enjoyed running in Green Bay this year, but the race was not without a few problems.

The good - Really nice course, pretty much no dull spots. Plenty of fan support on course. Pasta dinner was excellent the night before, and included in your entry fee (which by the way was also very reasonable). The Lambeau atrium was a great place to keep warm before the race. Running through the stadium was a nice perk.

The not so good - the mile markers were all over the place. Some were long, some short. Not only that, since it was so windy, they couldn't have their markers up, so it was very difficult to figure out where you where at (although fortunately, I drove the course beforehand, which proved to be VERY helpful). Also - there were several water stops in the first half that didn't have enough volunteers, so they weren't getting fluids out efficiently. Neither of these was too game-breaking, but they do need to be corrected in order for this race to elevate from good to great.

Overall, it was a fun race that I would recommend doing.

As a school union member in Michigan and an avid backer of Wisconsin unions, I thought the race was well organized and the course was great!

"Fantastic race that I plan to run again" (about: 2010)

This race was my first full marathon and I had a blast. The expo the night before was fun and the pasta dinner was adequate. It is hard to make dinner for 10,000+ people and have it be delicious but they did a good job.

The morning of the race I took a shuttle from my hotel to Lambeau Field. I got there early and was able to go inside, stretch and eat and drink. The bathrooms that morning were port-o-lets outside for non-elites. I had to wait in a short line about an hour and a half before the race and a much longer line about 20 minutes before. They could've had more port-o-lets but they really only get used a few minutes before and immediately after.

The course was great. I ran with the 4-hour group for the first 3-4 miles and then took off because I felt great. The weather couldn't have been better. I ended up finishing about 3:53, which far surpassed my expectations.

The crowd was sparse at places, especially after the half marathon split off, but enthusiastic the whole way. Some people were moving around the course and I saw several posters two or three times.

Running through Lambeau at the finish was awesome, although it was kind of cheesy that they played Creed's "Higher" on a loop. I ordered one of the pictures from the sports photography place because it turned out amazing with the scoreboard over one shoulder and the US flag over the other.

I loved this race and days later registered for my next marathon. I plan on doing Green Bay again next year because it was such a great experience.

"perfect in every way" (about: 2010)

Coming from Chicago, when I hear "flat"... I expect flat. There are about 5 hills - not steep inclines, but nonetheless, they're not completely flat. But other than that, the course is flat. The last half is beautiful along the lake and through the small towns. It was well-organized and we had exceptional weather. There was a nice number of runners for the marathon - you did not feel like you have to weave in and out of crowds, like you might have to with the bigger marathons. And what better way to end than to run through Lambeau?

"FABULOUS MARATHON" (about: 2010)

This was my 17th marathon and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. Although it was relatively small, you never felt abandoned on the course: Fans stayed out even for us slow folks and cheered for everyone. The water stations were well manned for the entire event (none of this "nothing left" for folks at the back of the pack). In fact, there were so many water stations that I started to feel like I was floating from all I'd had to drink! The race directors were so well prepared for the relatively hot day that they got folks out with wet towels to keep runners cool toward the final miles. At mile 20 a local group put up "a wall" and cheered like mad. Shortly thereafter speakers blasted music to keep us going across the last bridge as we wound back toward Lambeau Field. (How they got those out there, I'll never know, but it was super.) Lovely course through town and the bike trails. The medal was nicely done with a gorgeous, colorful ribbon and, of course, that final .2 miles through the Packer's tunnel and around Lambeau was awesome. Can't say enough great things about the race, the course, and the folks from Green Bay. A MUST-RUN!

From start to finish, this was a great race. Expo: nice. Number pick-up: fast and easy. Organization: top notch. Course: FLAT and beautiful. Crowds and volunteers: very supportive. Pasta dinner: easily accessible and plentiful. Finisher medal and shirt: top-notch. Porta-potties and atrium access at the beginning: great. Post-race beer, brats, snacks, massage, and band: excellent. Pre-race Gatorade, water, bananas, oranges, and bagels: unheard of in other races and a nice, unexpected touch. Lambeau lap: priceless.

Very well organized, course well marked, beautiful medal, and one of the best finishes: a lap around Lambeau Stadium!! How cool is that?!

This course is very flat and well marked. The fans that are out are very supportive. I'm not from Green Bay, but running through the stadium is still a great feeling. Pre-race pasta dinner made carbo-loading easy. The brats and beer at the finish hit the spot. Everyone in the area was friendly and very accommodating. I recommend this one.
