I thought it was a great event. The field limit kept it to just the right number of people for the course. I have already recommended it to friends.

The Texas Marathon was simply fantastic. Steve and Paula Boone did an incredible job at organizing this marathon. The course was well marked and clean. There were no traffic concerns since it was run entirely on greenbelts. The volunteers stayed throughout the entire marathon and were helpful and friendly. Food was plentiful... even at the end! Personal messages of encouragement were placed on the course for each and every runner. Steve ran the marathon and was friendly and encouraging on the course. I can't say enough good things about this marathon. Don't miss it!!!!!

A perfectly delightful way to spend New Year's Day! The scenery was beautiful and the volunteers dedicated and friendly. I'll be back!

I loved this marathon. It has the feel of the friendly trail runs without any of the roots. The course was scenic and the aid stations were well stocked. It is fast, flat and friendly. And the post-run pizza was FABULOUS - and I'm not a fast runner so I was ecstatic to see it was available and hot!

Paula and Steve do a wonderful job of organizing this run.

I ran the Texas Marathon for the 3rd year in a row and will be back. Steve and Paula do an outstanding job with this race. The volunteers are great, and though there aren't many spectators, but it does start at 8 a.m. on New Year's Day....

I enjoyed this race. Steve and Paula did an excellent job in putting there personal touches to this race. I will probably be back next year. It is close to home. The volunteers were great and friendly. They hung in there for us slow runners. The other runners were also supportive of each other.

"2006 hot/nice course/best refreshments" (about: 2006)

Enjoyed everything about this marathon. Organization was great. The toilets were never delivered, but that was no fault of the organizers. The refreshments handed out at the turn around were great (gummy bears/gel/PowerBars and more). The course was beautiful. What a wonderful way to begin the New Year. Steve and Paula do a fantastic job!

I had heard good things about this marathon and I was not disappointed. The long sleeve t-shirt was 1st class. The finisher's medal was just beautiful; it was heavy and colorful. The course was flat and scenic. They put your first name on your bib, a nice personal touch. The race organizers acutually put up a poster on the course with your name and a blurb. We were given a stuffed animal at the end of the race with a tag hanging from it designating your finish position in the race. There was a delicious post-race picnic. Everyone was as friendly as could be. It doesn't get any better than the Texas Marathon.

I can't think of a better way to start out the new year than a run among friends. And even though you may not know anyone else there, you will have several new friends by the time you get through this 4x10K+ loop. As always, Paula and Steve Boone know how to put on a good time. There were not a lot of spectaors, but those with friends or family running did a great job of cheering everyone. Volunteers were attentive throughout the run even for the slower folk. The course is scenic and runs on a greenbelt trail along Lake Houston, another small lake and beautiful homes. Runners' names on their bib made it fun, also. A nice picnic after the run. I will be back!

"I'm glad I tried it! Great, great little marathon!" (about: 2006)

I have never run a 4-loop marathon before. I really enjoyed it!! The course was really beautiful. Mostly shaded, though there was one lake we ran around (4x, of course) that wasn't, especially the 3rd and 4th time around. The weather is out of the RD's control, and it was 65-82 (felt like 90) with high humidity. It killed me and many others. I ran 20 minutes, or more, slower than usual.

I can't say enough about this race or the RD's organization! The volunteers were spectacular! The food was great! The water/fluid stations were fantastic! The course was great (albeit on concrete, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars). It really helped having the 4 loops because I got to see people a LOT more than usual! I didn't feel so alone, even though I ran by myself for most of the race.

There was a picnic afterward. There was no time limit for the marathon. They still had plenty of food/beverages for us later folks. Everyone was encouraging. Everyone had their names on their bibs - handwritten! Great medal. Great shirt. Great little bear and door prizes.

If you are looking for a small, very well run, very pleasant marathon... this one is for you!!
