First Marathon

First of all, a standing ovation to the organizers and volunteers. This was my first half-marathon to run/walk in. I had a blast. Not only did we get support from the staff, but the cheering sections along the way helped a ton. Just when you thought it would never end they would be there to pump you up and keep you going. The finish line was awesome. The crowd cheered as though I had won. I recommend this marathon to anyone.

I loved running this marathon; the course was great. I had to suffer the hills, as I had to do all my training on a treadmill. But I'll be better prepared when I'm back next year to run this one again.

It was great seeing a large showing from a charity (NF Marathon Team). I was impressed with the water stations, the crowds, the volunteers, and of course, the MEDAL.

I ran my first marathon in Little Rock in 2004. I trained for about 12 to 15 weeks. At the last minute, I decided to run the 2008 LR Marathon without adequate training. The only running I was able to do was during my lunch hour. I was only able to get in about 15 miles of total running before the marathon. I exercise daily by lifting weights and jumping rope. I figured that if I had run one before, I could run another one. Based on my prior experience, I knew that the LR Marathon would provide the necessary essentials such as water, fruits and gel supplements. I finished better this year by not training than training. I wonder how well I would have done if I had trained. The course was beautiful and I loved the hills. I encourage all to run the LR Marathon. Thanks for allowing this young man of 44 years to participate. Looking forward to next year, but I plan to train this time.

I had a fantastic time. Great, challenging course, fantastic support and the groups outside the churches were unbelievable support on the hills!

The best marathon experience for me yet!

Ran lots of 5Ks and halves but this one is my first full. It was good overall but lacking some BANG (food) at the end of the race. When I hit 20 all I can think of is the greasy pizza and sugar-loaded sodas, etc. waiting for me at the finish line... but I got a banana and couple of sweets instead. :o(

What hills? Very funny, Little Rock! Oh my gosh, the hills were so challenging. Thank you to all the volunteers; you guys are the best (especially the ones at mile 25). I will definitely be back next year.

Great race; well organized. I will definitely sign up for 2009. Aid stations were well stocked - give those volunteers a hand!

Well done, LR!

This was the first marathon that I have run/walked in. I did the half and was very excited about my finish. I was truly glad to see the finish line with all the supporters, including my family. Everyone cheered each person as they came through, and that is encouraging. I would recommend the LR Marathon to anyone if not for the experience, then for the support from the cheering sections along the way. There were times I did want to give up but they were there to keep me going. The staff, volunteers, and medical help was outstanding and deserve a standing ovation. Will be back next year!

This was my first race (I walked) and it was everything I expected it to be and so much more. It was the best experience of my life. Thank you to everyone who made it happen. I can't wait for next year to do it again.

Wow, what a great race.

The spectators this year were great; I loved all of the local singers, guitar players, DJ's, etc. that set up stations along the way. The LR Marathon should really encourage this, as it added so much local flavor to the race.

Now that mile 13 doesn't have to be at the capitol, maybe they can find another mile downtown to shorten the switchback down by the river. But I do like a little bit of a switchback so that I can greet my friends that are way ahead of me on the way out and those that are behind me on the way back.

MOST OF ALL, I can't thank the 3:30 pacer enough for getting me to the finish line on time.
