"Reasonably well organized marathon" (about: 2009)

After several marathons in Europe and US, this was the first marathon in my home town. Organization on the day itself is better than the pre-organization. Especially for non-Polish participants, information is incomplete and contains mistakes. Race day organization is good, with a comfortable start, well organized water points, etc. The course leads the runners along Warsaw's highlights, which is nice. Running some parts several times is annoying though, as are turning points. It's a good course for PR's: It's not too crowded, yet there's a nice mass (approximately 4,000) of runners and a flat and fast course. Spectators are the weakest point despite the efforts by the organizers to boost support (the marathon is simply not adopted by the citizens). All in all, it's a nice race to run.

"Great marathon to see Warsaw...." (about: 2009)

I have nothing but great things to say about this marathon. I have done over 20 marathons, and this one ranks #1 for me. Beautiful course, well organized, pancake flat, good temperature, and very friendly people. I will definitely do this one again if I happen to be in Warsaw again in the future!! A must-do if you are ever in Poland.

"Well-organized, medium-sized marathon" (about: 2009)

An excellent and interesting route that takes you to all of the important sights in Warsaw. It's mostly flat, with one downhill (500 meters) at 15.5K and a similar uphill at 39K. Fluid stations after 5K in were posted every 2.5K. Not too many spectators, but those who watched were enthusiastic. The organization was perfect from the beginning (picking up your number) to the end.

"A great way to see this city as a running tourist" (about: 2008)

This marathon takes in all Warsaw's major sights, mainly in the first half of the race. It's an interesting city, completely rebuilt after WWII.

There is no signage or any information at the event in any language other than Polish, but lots of people speak English. I didn't have a problem with this, but I was a bit surprised, as the website has a full English version. The race instruction book is only in Polish and I had trouble finding the location of the pasta party, but then the food was so bad that I wished I hadn't bothered.

"MUST-DO!" (about: 2007)

The Warsaw Marathon is pancake flat, fast, historic and scenic; very well organized with the aid stations all well stocked with the usual fare - water and electrolyte drinks. The course takes you through the famous Old Town, with a few great parks and palaces, which offer necessary distraction if you happen to need some. The cobblestones are negligible at 5% and are all in the first 10K. The race entry fee was a bargain compared to North American marathon fees. The medal is one of the best I have in my collection of 27 or so marathons. So, this one is a clear MUST-DO.

Excellent organization - one of the best. Fabulous weather. Great sense of companionship. Interesting route. Cobblestones are hard on the feet, but a fairly easy course as far as marathons go. Highly recommended race in a beautiful, historic city.

Very well organized. A good size for a race, and held on a forgiving and flat course. The only poor part of the race was the water stations, which only just coped with the number of runners. Perhaps some more adults rather than just children would improve this point. Great medal!

Nice atmosphere; the course gets you weaving through the city center. About 2,000 participants, which is a perfect critical mass to feel you are in a big crowd, and yet not in a hurtling hord of bisons. Beware of the cups that they hand out along the way: too small, and they splash everywhere. Get yourself good old water bottles (or energy drinks) that you can retrieve at various points of the race (you write your number on the bottle and somebody will have it ready for you when you get to it: very well organised). Not too many spectators, but good cheers.

"Great atmosphere, perfect organization." (about: 2003)

The kind of race I love to be in: not too many runners (ca. 2,500), lots of activities happening before during and after the race and, first of all, perfect organization. Importantly, the race runs across the very heart of the city, crossing bridges, weaving through the old town square and getting you the flavor of the place. Warsaw-dwellers may not be the biggest crowd supporting you but those who did come watch were of great quality. As organizers top the race with children's contest for the most supportive school in Poland you get some 80(!) schools along the course cheering you on, offering water, iso, fruit, etc. This makes accidental passers-by stop and join them. Just a thrilling experience.
