What can I say but bravo to Treherne? You guys have the potential to be number 1 in Manitoba - and I didn't even have to walk 5 miles to my truck after it was over. See you next year.

The weather, scenery, and race course were great for a wonderful morning run in the Manitoba countryside. The hills were "awesome".... long going up, short going down!!!!! A great way to move into fall, and prepare for the indoor tennis and downhill ski season. We are already planning for next year.

I believe this was the slowest marathon time I have ever had! This was due to the combination of lack of training and a very challenging course. I was worried going into this, as I am much more used to large urban marathons with huge crowd support. I actually found the solitude and beauty of the prairie landscape on a wonderful fall day to be quite moving, and I thought this must be something like running Big Sur (which I haven't) but without the crowds or ocean.

The volunteer support was fantastic and enthusiastic, the organization was great, and it sure is nice to show up at a marathon, park your car and walk across the field to the start line.

One small quibble: It is now 2 days post-race and I still cannot find online results.

Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers; I am definitely recommending this one as a unique experience.

I have been coming out for this annually to run the half marathon. It has always been a great course for hill training prior to racing in Switzerland and New York. The people of Treherne are so friendly - and the best part is the food the people put on the night before the race, as well as the post-race set-up. This year the muffins were awesome! Thanks to all the organizers for their cheeriness and awesome hospitality.

This race is for all of those people who think that the prairies are flat - think again! Everyone was so friendly. The course was well marked and there were ample water stations. And what a bonus to be able to park right next to the start line. The organization was seamless. Congratulations on a job well done!

Challenging, but lonely.

I wouldn't hesitate to say this course is by far the best course if you want to test your endurance; it has a mutitude of hills and the road is gravel, and if it rains then you will be tested to your limit. I'm 13 years-old and this was a real test for me and I will be back next year with some friends. Great job, Treherne.

The course was wonderful again. The hills were challenging yet fun. An awesome way to meet new people in a friendly rural atmosphere. Great job with the food and refreshments. Everyone should book their calendars for next year.

"Challenging!" (about: 2006)

This was the 2nd event and it was well organized again. The only unexpected factor was the wind, rain and mud. The last mile or so was a mud-fest, but for me, that was an added challenge. The aid-station staff and fellow runners were still very enthusiastic considering the conditions. Good job again, Treherne. You do need different medals for full and half runners, but no complaints. Hoping for sun for 2007. The small-town feeling showed through again.

"beautiful, very challenging, and great, soft route" (about: 2006)

I loved the 1/2 marathon course; the rolling terrain was a challenge and had such a nice, soft surface area the whole way. I have never felt so good running this course compared to the flatter, concrete ones. People were very friendly and helpful. Route was well marked and it was nice to see all the volunteers on the course. Massages at the end were very much appreciated after those hills. Ham steak on a bun with salad was a nice change from just bagels. Would recommend having hot chocolate at the end of the race for us non-coffee drinkers, needing something warm.

My only criticism is something that likely does occur with any manual (non-chip) entry of race results. My tag was removed at the end upon completion, but was lost and not recorded on the results list. It was not found until after handing out the medals for age classes. Unfortunately, I did not receive the 2nd place medal in my age category. Not sure how you can avoid these possible occurrences but when it happens to someone that achieves a ranking, it could create problems on some occasions. (I did notify some race volunteers of this error before I left.)
