"Great finishers food, need star-spangled banner" (about: 2006)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 The best finisher's food tent I have ever experienced as of yet. Great location from race hotel. If the star spangled banner was played, we couldn't hear it. Needs more DJ's and/or bands, but I do realize this was the first Tulsa marathon, and on that note, I think it was very well organized and will only get better. Good give away's as well. Great job, keep it up.

"Great weather and a nice piece of Tulsa." (about: 2006)
First Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This race was my first, and its first, and that made it something special. The run had enough change in scenery to where time just flew by. Water stations were fairly slim in the middle. Fans were great, for a first-time event. The start and finish area are classic. The course has a nice, undulating finish for the last 2.5-3 miles and was somewhat of a challenge. All in all, it was a good race.

"Wonderful Addition to Tulsa" (about: 2006)

| 1 Route 66 Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The Route 66 Marathon was a wonderful addition to Tulsa! The course was absolutely beautiful, the organizers and directors did a fabulous job making sure everything went perfectly. The support for the runners was wonderful. This was my first marathon experience (I ran the Half-marathon) as a runner, and found it to be everything I had hoped for! The course was a bit challenging, but that made it even more of an accomplishment. However, the view and variety were wonderful! The water and sports drink stops were perfectly orchestrated, and the timing and registration crew did a great job both before, during, and after the race! The pace leaders were on the mark and incredibly supportive. Congratulations on a job well done!

"Enjoyed the hospitality" (about: 2006)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 Hello, Loved the race, the graciousness of everyone, and the professionalism involved. Only one comment to make the race better: Either have small food items every few miles during the race for the marathoners or inform the runners there will be 'no food' provided during the race. I myself and several others ran out of energy and thought there would be food on the route. There were only 2 spots for gels. I don't mind providing my own...but I would like to know if it is going to be available or not. Again, thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. I will promote this marathon to my friends. I especially want to thank the sincere kindness and generosity of the people of Tulsa and Oklahoma...and this is coming from a Jayhawker! Thank you, Bart

"Excellent organization, average course" (about: 2006)
4-5 previous marathons
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 The organization was excellent. It was great to get both a sweatshirt and a finisher's t-shirt, and they were both top notch. Both the start and finish of the race were smooth as glass. It was a nice touch to get a free beer at the finish, as well as Spenco slippers. The bag-drop and pick-up was well done, and I also liked the men's trough for convenience. The support from the Tulsa Police department along the route was very impressive. The entry fee was reasonable and good hotel rooms for cheap prices are plentiful in Tulsa, as are great places to eat. The route itself was good until the end, when you had a loop on Peoria and then a climb up hill at the very end. The hill cannot be avoided, but lets hope they figure out how to get rid of the south loop on Peoria. The other downside was the very minimal crowd support. With the exception of the start, finish, and turn around near Jenks, the course was almost void of spectators. All in all I was glad I decided to do this race.

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The course needs a little smoothing out. Consolidate some of the long stretches with the abrupt u-turns in some way?? Loved the staff and volunteers. The event was perfectly executed!

"Great race, but hard finish" (about: 2006)
2 previous marathons
| 1 Route 66 Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 The Route 66 was very quality race. I commend the race director and the volunteers for such a nice course. The course went gradually down until the turnaround. Therefore, it was gradually uphill on the way back. The last three miles were even hillier. Lots of extra goodies: sweatshirt, finisher's long-sleeve shirt, sandals, and a finisher's food tent. The bands alond the course and at the end all added to the experience.
