It was an awesome race. I wish there had been more spectators in the Traditions area....

"I had a great race!" (about: 2011)

The overall race was fantastic! My only concern was when I crossed over University onto the campus about the cars driving right next to me. The police did a great job around town guiding us through intersections and were very supportive with their words of encouragement. I was looking
forward to a beer at the end, but there wasn't
any left. The t-shirts and medals were super! It
was my second full marathon and I left with a big smile on my face.....I did it!

"may be the friendliest of all marathons" (about: 2011)

I ran the half marathon. The BCS marathon may be the friendliest of all marathons, and it is among the best-organized.

"Excellent! Far exceeded first-year expectations." (about: 2011)

(Comments for Half Marathon) This race was wonderful. I had my questions/doubts while driving the route that ALL those roads would be closed or restricted for slow runners in the back of the pack like me... and I was pleasantly surprised. I felt just as important as an elite runner leading the way, from support on the sides to resources at the water stations. Everything was a pleasant surprise if I was comparing things to what a first-year effort would normally look like... and still far exceeding a well seasoned 'chain' half marathon I've completed previously. Awesome planning, organization, and execution, and what a wonderful reflection of the people and places in our community. Proud of the organizers, the race, and how awesome B/CS looked this weekend.

"Close to home but missing key elements." (about: 2011)

- Not many spectators. Could have used some serious marketing including sponsored water/aid stations.
- Lonely path. The park path would have been a nice run except for its placement at the very end of the race. Such a secluded spot is both dangerous and demoralizing.
- Poor mileage marking. Didn't even see many of the mile markers. Need something more obvious than little signs on the side of the road.
- Great to be in Aggieland. Close to home and glad to be here.

"Well organized race, enthusiastic volunteers" (about: 2011)

The race was well organized, relevant information was published and questions addressed in a timely manner. The medical aid stations were plentiful and well staffed. Police managed traffic efficiently. Volunteers along the course were enthusiastic, cheerful and fun. The course was relatively flat, I loved the stretch through Texas A&M campus. As a runner, all I had to focus on was my race and the organizers took care of everything else. I really enjoyed the marathon, it was a great experience.

"Great inaugural marathon..." (about: 2011)

Really enjoyed the BCS marathon; was concerned regarding adequate hydration stations, mile markings, and port a potties along the course being the inaugural race, but felt that it was well taken care of. People of college station were fantastic spectators, encouraging racers on a first name basis which was a definite plus. Would be glad to do this race again.
