"I am just not into concrete" (about: 2011)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 New Year's Eve Marathon
COURSE: 2  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This was a nice, fun, enjoyable way to end one year and begin another, but I must say that I was grateful to have only done double half-marathons because doing double fulls would have bored me on that course. I just feel the need to see something different. And I find it painful to be on concrete paths for that long. No switches to asphault, etc. Excellent shirt, excellent bling, wonderful organizers...Just a bit repetitive. Again, I ran the half back to back, but saw plenty of the course...would not have wanted to seen it all over again.

"Good race for Marathon Maniacs!" (about: 2011)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 New Year's Eve Marathon
COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 5

This is a super new event for those looking for a good Marathon Maniacs 4-star race weekend. The very flat course is a 6+ mile loop repeated four times on suburban paved running trails. None of the route is on city streets, so it is very smooth and there is little camber and gentle curves. The parkland is nice, but gets dull after a while. It is handy to be able to park your car right against the race path to drop or collect gear on each loop. The double metal for racing both days was of good quality. Also, we got two nifty tech shirts, all for $100 for entering both races. There was plenty of food, but it could have been distributed better. More of the food needed to be at the far-end loop aid station. The weather was great this year, but runners need to be ready for extreme hot/cold conditions due to the local climate. Putting extra gear in your car just off the course is a good idea.

"Fantastic Half Marathon & Marathon!" (about: 2011)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 New Year's Eve Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

What a fantastic race series! I ran double half marathons, and it was more than I could have expected. This was the most organized run in which I've ever participated. The people that did participate were very fun. The race director really created an online facebook community with the participants so it was fun to meet people the day of the race. The course was great because it did not cross streets and the trail is smooth, new concrete so no potholes to trip over. Considering it was new years eve, there were a lot of people cheering runners on, and the volunteers were fantastic. You can't go wrong with this race. It really was a fantastic way to end the year!

"Loved the non-street course and loops!" (about: 2011)

The loops meant spectators and water stops could be double-or-quadrpley effective! The trails in Allen were fantastic, too. Bag drop on the loop was great for essentials before, after AND During the race.

"Course review" (about: 2011)

Very narrow course which led to a major bottleneck for the first two miles inhibiting the ability to establish a good solid pace at the get go.

This was by far the most organized and runner friendly race I've ever done! Every little detail was considered...great communication from the RD, great shirts and bling and plenty of awesome volunteers! Can't wait for next year!

I enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the course. It was truly a flat course with some pretty cool views.

Definitely will be running this one again!! But really missed some at end to massage or stretch me out. This is a super picky complaint!! The race was really a blast!

"Loved the race but didnt like crossing the finish" (about: 2011)

4-5 previous marathons | 2 New Year's Eve Marathons
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

Loved this challenge!! And really enjoyed seeing friends over and over again on the coarse. One improvement would be to shift the finish line over so that we don't cross the finish line multiple times before truly finishing.
