"Well-Run, Not-Too-Huge Event That Highlights City" (General Comments)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 (Ran it in '96, before course changes). As 'Champaign' says, be prepared for varied temps (30-60+ F) on race day. If possible, pick up packet on Friday to avoid crowds. (I was able to talk with Galloway for 5 minutes.) Course provides nice tour of city, particularly Ohio State campus and old German settlement w/scenic brick buildings. Don't know if Elvis impersonator still shows up, but he was needed relief in the Bexley area. This race has a relay, so don't be discouraged if people blow by you in the latter stages. Be prepared for OSU colors and fight song... if you want attention, dress yourself likewise or in Univ. of Michigan colors and logos.

"PR course. Isn't too crowded, yet." (General Comments)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Good sized race (large enough to be well organized, small enough to run at your own pace from the gun), course is relatively flat, and there's so much oxygen down there!
A Runner from Champaign, IL
(5/19/2000)
"Fast course, great support/organization" (General Comments)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 The course is only so-so for scenery, but it is fairly flat and fast. Crowds are strong in pockets and quite enthusiastic. The expo was large and crowded. Nice medal and t-shirt. With good weather this is a pr course. |
