"nice course. great setting for the the expo." (about: 2014)

It's A nice course that goes through residential neighborhoods. Not to hard for a early season race but challenging enough. The expo was very nice, set in and around the pro football hall of fame. They give you, 1 adult and up to 3 children a free pass to tour the Hall. I took my father-in-law, we loved it

I loved the atmosphere of this race. The staff sent multiple emails before the race with instructions and things we needed to know, which I appreciated. The only complaint I have is the spectators had a difficult time getting there because the directions didn't include road closures. My dad ended up not making it because of the mess of road closures. Since this was my first half , I really wish he could have been there...it was disappointing!!! I expected a lot of fans lining the streets, that wasn't the case for the half, I only saw a handful of people the entire 13 miles. I wish there were more because the ones that were there were AWESOME!!!!!

"hilly, often turning, but very well run!" (about: 2014)

I thought this event was run VERY well. It's a small race, only 700 in the marathon...that may have been my favorite part... OPEN ROAD... lots of room to run! Each water station was supplied with ample and friendly volunteers. I come from a very flat Chicago..so the course was a *little* hilly...however, having drove the area, they did a GREAT job making it as fast as possible. Great finish on the football field, awesome swag, friendly Race Director.. small town... free Hall of Fame entry... it was a very nice race. Great job for the first year!

I participated in the 1/2 Marathon. This was a great race & the weather was awesome! I couldn't have asked for a better day for the first annual Pro Football HOF Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. The medal is my favorite out of all the medals I've earned over the last 5 years. Parking was definitely a problem. I was grateful for the bus system, but the volunteers sent us to the wrong location to take the bus back to the fairgrounds. The bus trip was almost 45 minutes back to the parking lot because of all the closed roads. I would've walked back to my car if I knew it would be such a long ride. It was also hard to get out of the fairground lot & difficult to find my way back to the freeway. I'm sure it'll get worked out for next year's race. I can't wait to do it again!!

The shuttle bus route crossed the marathon runner's route which led to busses being stopped at the crossing for what felt to be 1/2 hour.

"First annual Pro Football Hall Of Fame Marathon" (about: 2014)

For a first time event this was well run and well organized. Great job by all staff and volunteers. The city of Canton, Ohio and its citizens are great. As for the race itself.

Expo: Best pre-race expo ever. As part of your marathon fee you are entitled to 2 FREE admissions (children are free also) to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. What better place for an expo than this. The museum is fantastic!!! Running vendors are spread throughout the museum. You can spend hours touring the entire museums exhibits (if you love football that is). If you just want your number that can also be done w/o touring the museum.

Course: Mostly flat course that winds through the area. Since this is a Half and Full together, the first 12.4 miles is full of people BUT not crowded that you could not run your race. The first half runs through some depressed (sad to see so many bordered up homes) and industrial area but then a run through a beautiful park and around the McKinley Memorial (actually has to take out my phone for some pics). The second half is a little lonely due to that most run the half but beautiful suburban areas and some main streets. There are some hills in the second half. The finish is on the field of Faucett Stadium at the Hall Of Fame. Plenty of water and Gatorade on the course, some traffic in the first half but easy access in the second half of the race. Two GU stations were well stacked with many flavors and great staff. The site mentioned football themes along the course but I did not see much. The mile makers and clocks were big and easy to spot. Finish line was nice on the field, maybe for next year hand all finishers a football before they cross and move the finish to the end zone for a touchdown celebration. Just an idea, it would make a nice photo with the ball in a Heisman pose.

Post-Race: Nice finish area, plenty of water, some Subway sandwiches and fruit (could use a bit more choices, always like chocolate milk) easy access to medical tent and post-race messages, also some vendor and charity tents.

Swag: For the price of your fee the value you will receive is above and beyond and other marathon I have ran!

Runner's shirt was beautiful red, white and blue with the Hall of Fame Marathon Logo on the front. The back in big letter vertically spells out Marathoner or Half Marathoner, great addition. The finisher's medal was also unique. The marathon logo was center in a replica football with a leather football feel. Great touch!! All finisher received a finisher throw blanket instead of a heat sheet. This is a beautiful throw blanket with the Marathon logo and Finisher boldly written. This was far one of the best finishers items I have received, better than any orange poncho. (NYC).

Final thoughts: If this is the first running and it was spectacular image as the years go by how much better it can get!

Except for hiccup at the start, MC not working, it went well for first attempt, didn't go to the expo- Bib and shirt mailed (excellent).
Ran in corral c (the front).
Support water, gels, restrooms on course and friendly supportive volunteers was noticed and appreciated

"I will run this one again!" (about: 2014)

This first year race was very well planned and organized. Details were well thought out to maximize the comfort and enjoyment of the runner. Volunteers were numerous and outstanding in their positions. There were more turns on course than I would have liked HOWEVER, these turns were mentally nice to break up the mileage plus had it been windy this also would have helped to prevent additional fatigue. The finish in the stadium on the soft artificial turf, with the screaming crowd, was tear provoking. The warm- attractive blanket and the neck medal( to take home), was wonderful to feel extra important.

This was my brothers first marathon (I ran the half) and it was a pleasure to run with him at such a nice event. Very runner friendly, beautiful finish line! Volunteers were superb. I look forward to this race gaining popularity and I am sure the spectators will come. Loved the tuba band!!

This venue was my first marathon and I could not have asked for a better first marathon experience. From the moment I signed up for the event to race day-the update communication was constant. Whenever I had a question, I received immediate feedback. The expo the day before the race was a great experience for the entire family. The race was very well orchestrated and the support from the organizers, volunteers and pace team was amazing! I will recommend this race to others as well as I plan on participating again in the future. As a mother of three children, it was important for me to show them that stretch goals can be accomplished with hard work, support and dedication. A huge personal goal was achieved and I am forever grateful for the support that I received from the HOF team along the way in reaching that goal!
